In 2009 the BC Provincial Capital Commission did a series of short history docs about various aspects of BC. With the end of the PCC in March of 2014 it is not clear what will happen to these videos so I thought would post them to ensure they remain online.

Anne Marie and I decided to check out the spring blossoms at Government House Gardens in Victoria. It's the residence of the Lieutenant-Governor, the Queen's representative in British Columbia.

New Totem Pole At Government House - Shaw TV Victoria
More than fifty years ago, legendary carver Mungo Martin was commissioned to make a totem pole for the Royal Navy in England. Sadly, that pole has been damaged by weather but a new one will take its place -- carved by none other than Martin's original apprentice, now-master carver Tony Hunt. Shaw TV's James Green has more from the ceremony at Government House.

Every year, for Government House Open Day, the Governor's staff set the table for 54 guests in the State Dining Room to reflect a State Dinner. This event was recorded over a 4 hour period in January 2013. State Dinners rarely occur these days.

On May 22, 2012 Government House in Victoria B.C. celebrated the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a public open house including food and music and the unveiling of a new bronze sculpture of Governor James Douglas, British Columbia Colony Governor 1858-1864.
In the video The Honourable Steven L. Point passes us on his way into the Government House, to great guest and visitors in his role as Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.
