This video shows a history of Koshu wine and Budo no Oka winery.
Budo no Oka, sitting on a hill overlooking a large number of vineyards, combines a winery with shops, a hotel, restaurants, and a hot spring bath.
My channel, Japan Silhouette, features beautiful scenery, traditional culture, Origami arrangement, and the warm heart of the Japanese people.
I also visit other countries and record my impression about them, perhaps from a Japanese perspective.

JAPANESE WINE COUNTRY | Koshu, Yamanashi
Yamanashi is the center for Japanese wine. As a wine lover, I had to stop by for some tasting while exploring Yamanashi.
I started at Daizen-ji, nicknamed Budo-ji (Grape Temple). This is where grapes in the region started so I figured it would be a good place to start myself.
I also stopped at 3 wineries. Château Mercian, Haramo Wine, and Budo no Oka. All three were very different experiences from each other and I'm very happy with how my wine tasting adventure turned out.
Much love and happy travels

Jeannie Meets Ayana Misawa of Grace Winery
Ayana Misawa, the Chief Winemaker of Grace Winery, talks about her winery, the challenges in the vineyards and Koshu, which is a Japanese indigenous grape variety.
Japanese Wine - Koshu Grape
In this video I am telling you everything you need to know about Koshu! A delicate and gentle Japanese grape variety that grows in the Yamanashi prefecture.
It is a pink grey-ish looking grape that comes from the same family as the European grape vines (Vitis Vinifera).
In this video I want to tell you a little about this national treasure and what makes it unique. I am also giving food and wine pairing tips and interviewing a local sommelier/bottle shop owner in Tokyo.
Wine shouldn’t always be taken so seriously. Drink it and have a laugh. I started this channel as a way for me to connect with the world of wine as a certified Sommelier.

My biggest recommendation for those of you who wants to know more about wine is to taste many different styles. Try something new as often as you can! This one is absolutely a new one for me.
Don't take wine to seriously. It should be available for anyone (at the legal drinking age) to be enjoyed. No matter status or gender!
Travel and taste well! Kanpai!
All the ratings and reactions are from my own point of view, and I believe that smell and taste is subjective.

Craftsmanship at SUNTORY TOMI NO OKA WINERY, Yamanashi, Japan (1m39s)
TOMI NO OKA WINERY, located in Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture, overlooks the Kofu Basin with magnificent Mt. Fuji to the south, and was named for the beauty revealed as one climbs these hills.
This winery has been in operation for more than a century since 1909. Today, varieties of grapes are grown in vineyards stretching across 25 hectares. We focus on using only grapes from our own vineyards, adhering to our ironclad rule of growing each variety in the soil that suits it best. Our wines are literally created from the ground up.
Take a look at the beautiful landscape and how we create the exclusive Japanese wines*, such as our flagship brand, TOMI.
*Japanese Wine refers to wine produced and bottled in Japan using 100% domestic grapes.
