Grainger Market – studying at Newcastle University
Studying at Newcastle University, you’ll be living in one of the UK’s best student cities. As a city based campus we’re located in the heart of Newcastle near everything it has to offer, including the Grainger Market.
Our students love the Grainger Market for its local produce and delicious food, which doesn’t break the bank. Daniel is a regular visitor to the market and in this video he explains why.

Around Grainger Market, Newcastle upon Tyne ©
The Grainger market in the centre of Newcastle is at the heart of Grainger Town built by developer Richard Grainger between 1824 and 1841 but is still a living and changing market.
Grainger Town covers approximately 36 hectares and the architecture is dubbed 'Tyneside Classical' architecture. One of the streets of Grainger town, Grey Street was described by Pevsner as 'one of the finest streets in England'. The area also includes a Mediaeval 13th century Dominican Friary, pieces of the historic Town Walls and many fine Georgian and Victorian buildings.
Almost all of Grainger Town is within Newcastle's Central Conservation Area, one of the first to be designated in England. Wikipedia.

A walk through the Grainger Market in Newcastle upon Tyne. This was my favourite part of Newcastle when I lived there many years ago. I always take a walk through there whenever I'm visiting the area. This video will allow me, and any other ex patriots of Newcastle to see it as it is today.
The link below, shows a (windy) walk over the Redheugh Bridge.

After my Northumberland Street video received some lovely comments, I decided I'd upload this one too. I like videoing this type of thing as it shows how things change over the years, and allows people that have moved away the chance to see how it is at this time. I have other videos taken around the area, so if you'd like to see them, please subscribe to my channel, or click on the picture that comes up at the end of this video. Thank you.

S1 Ep9 - Newcastle upon tyne City at Night
The city of Newcastle upon Tyne after dark. Just a quick trip around some of the nightspots of the city, even on a Tuesday!
There are some great places to eat and drink from the latest spot, Stack to the well established Chinatown.
The sights to see, both day and night, are numerous and there's usually something going on somewhere in the city.
As we head into the darker evenings and the colder weather Xmas is just around the corner. The window at Fenwick's is spectacular each year and even has its own special reveal event, where local radio hold a fun afternoon and all the families get involved. The looks on all the children's faces as the Christmas window is revealed is priceless. I will certainly be heading over again this year to capture all the fun and festivities for this Vlog.
The shopping centres in and around the city, just a couple of examples, Eldon Square, The Gate, which appear in the video, are packed with great places for fashion and the latest gadgets as well as lots of brilliant bars and restaurants.
This is just a little snippet of the city after dark, as the week goes on so the nightlife comes more to life until, by Thursday night, you would think you were in London or New York! By Friday and Saturday all the Hens and Stags will have arrived and the place is absolutely buzzing.
It's not all mad hustle and bustle. If you are looking for a relaxing break/visit there are plenty of parts of the city that will cater for your needs, including theatres and cinemas through to fine dining for two for a more romantic feel.
No doubt I will be back here plenty more times in the future as I love everything about this wonderful city and all it has to offer.
