Temagami Marine Limited - Ruining the peace of Lake Temagami
I traveled 2000 miles to vacation for a week at Lake Temagami and get away from the city. The area is beautiful and there is a neat town close by if you need supplies, as well as a few outfitters (check out Gramp's) if you don't want to head into town. Unfortunately, the folks at Temagami Marine Limited ( were making industrial noise all day which tends to ruin the peace. I hope they change their policy, the riveting, drilling and grinding noises make it hard to enjoy what is otherwise one of the best vacation spots I know of.
I ran into a fellow that took video of the noise and asked for a copy. Judge for yourself.
I found a quote in the Temagami Times by the owner of Temagami Marine, I hope he follows through on his promise. If he truly put himself in the shoes of his neighbors he would close the bay doors and keep the noise pollution indoors: The geothermal system will allow the doors of the plant to be kept shut to control the temperature and humidity levels and to keep outside dust from getting into the process during production. The added benefits are that it will contribute to a more comfortable working environment for the employees and help keep the noise inside the building so there will be less impact on the neighbours. I put myself in their shoes said André as he explained his decision to go this route.
