SENEGAL: US PRESIDENT CLINTON VISITS DAKAR GRAND MOSQUE
Natural Sound
Winding up his historic six-nation tour of Africa, U-S President Bill Clinton
has paid his respects at the Grand Mosque of Dakar.
Clinton, along with his wife Hillary, toured the imposing green-and-white
tile building with human rights activists in Senegal.
It was the last of the Clintons official duties in Dakar.
Wrapping up his 12-day African tour, U-S President Bill Clinton, along with First Lady Hillary, got an opportunity to observe the splendor of Dakar's Grand Mosque.
In line with Muslim custom, Mrs Clinton wore a scarf over her head, and all members of the presidential party - including Secret Service agents - removed their shoes for the tour.
The Clintons also used the opportunity to speak to human rights activists.
Clinton then boarded a boat for Goree Island, on Senegal's western coast, to tour a former slave house and deliver a speech that outlines his vision for future U-S-African partnerships.

I still don't understand the difference in the Islam version of Mouridism that the Touba Brotherhood practices. The local guide speeded through his spiel about the stunning Great Mosque that left me totally confused. Perhaps a viewer can enlighten all of us further....

In Senegal, fashion is as important as anywhere else. And there’s a growing market for Muslim women who wear a veil.
But as attacks increase across the region there’s a growing movement to ban the full face veil.
