Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève - Présentation
Le Grand Théâtre de Genève a un corps de ballet depuis le début du XXème siècle. Pourtant ce n’est qu’en 1962, à sa réouverture après le terrible incendie qui le détruisit presque entièrement, qu'il se dote d’une compagnie de ballet permanente. Dès lors, 2 productions chorégraphiques originales complètent les saisons lyriques du Grand Théâtre.
Au fil des saisons, le Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève se crée une réputation nationale et internationale. Depuis 2003, pas moins de 36 créations mondiales signées pas 34 chorégraphes de renom ont été présentées dans 27 pays.
Philippe Cohen, ancien directeur de la section danse du Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon, dirige le Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève depuis 13 ans.

Pour cette « Autre Passion », formée à partir du chef-d’œuvre de Bach, le chorégraphe et cinéaste suédois Pontus Lidberg aborde le thème universel de la passion en tant que souffrance et désir. Sa nouvelle production pour le Ballet du Grand Théâtre fait abstraction des éléments narratifs de la mort de Jésus pour créer une constellation abstraite de danse et de vidéo où la douleur s’unit à la beauté, élucidant une réflexion sur notre rapport aux images de souffrance et de mort avec lesquelles nous vivons.

La metteure en scène et chorégraphe de référence du Tanztheater Reinhild Hoffmann signe la mise en scène et la scénographie de cette nouvelle production avec son regard posé, espiègle et créatif pour présenter une ode à la liberté.

Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève performs the New York premiere of Andonis Foniadakis's Glory, created in 2012 for this acclaimed Swiss company. With 22 dancers performing to magnificent Handel choral and instrumental works, the piece features precise, lively musical rhythms that form the perfect backdrop for the choreographer's elaborate movement patterns. One of the most beloved pieces in the company's repertory, Glory is a beautiful example of Foniadakis's ability to create intricate, moving work.

Joan Mompart raconte Pulcinella !
Comédien et metteur en scène, le suisse Joan Mompart endossera le rôle de conteur lors du concert de Pulcinella.
Partant de la musique napolitaine de Pergolèse, Stravinski revisite la musique classique et compose une œuvre que seul un coloriste comme lui pouvait écrire. Il n’y a pas d’âge pour retrouver Pulcinella en compagnie de l’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, dirigé par Ira Levin, et le conteur Joan Mompart.

Damiano Artale, was born in Siracusa on September 1987, after some years dancing in different local school he finally fulfilled his dream and was selected to join the Dance school of Teatro Alla Scala Milano where he then graduated on June 2007.
He soon left Italy to join le Ballet de l'Opera du Rhin France (2007-2008), were he worked with several choreographers as Maurice Bejart, Jacopo Godani, Lucinda Chids.
Damiano won DANZA&DANZA talent award 2008.
Afterward he went to the Ballet du Grande Theatre de Geneve (Switzerland) were he playing different roles as Albrecht in GISELLE by Pontus Lidberg, Romeo in ROMEO ET JULIETTE by Joëlle Bouvier,
Prince in CINDERELLA by Michel Kelemenis.
Since September 2013 he moved back to Italy where he's now dancing at Aterballetto Reggio Emilia.
