Kayaking Charlotte Harbor's Woolverton Trail
I took a short kayak trip on part of the Ed Woolverton Trail in the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserve, near Placida, Florida. This trip took me through the quiet mangrove tunnels. The video is mostly quiet, with only the sound of water and birds, but I do say a few words about Grande Tours, who provided me with a great kayak for the trip.
BGRE: Boca Grande Shores 6
In considering Boca Grande for your vacation, fishing trip, or just a weekend get-away, you've found the quietest and most friendly spot on Florida's southwest coast. Although easy to reach by car, train (Amtrak to Tampa) or air (to Tampa, Sarasota, or Ft. Myers), Boca Grande is off the beaten path; a quiet island you can drive to.
We've been coming here since the early '70's, drawn by the beautiful beaches, the Gulf and inland waters teeming with fish and birds, and the variety of things to do. We picked our home in Boca Grande Shores when there were only empty lots. The site is beach front, but gentle sand dunes provide privacy and seclusion. The pool is at the side of the house, so it's easy to check on your family at the pool from the living room or rear bedroom windows. One of the advantages of Boca Grande Shores is that it contains the only homes on that particular stretch of road - across the street is a state preserve. As a result, the beach is very private, and this particular stretch is quite wide, so there's room to fly a kite, or play catch, volleyball or tag without disturbing the folks sunbathing, swimming or collecting shells at the waterfront. Our home is fully stand-alone, not a condo or villa. We think you will appreciate the privacy and quiet.
The island bike path accommodates not only bikes, but walkers and golf carts. It parallels the road at the entrance to Boca Grande Shores. To the south are the light house, a large state park, and a great beach-front restaurant and snack bar; to the north is town, with shops, lots of dining options, and a great ice cream shop. Either way, it's a short half-mile trip, and can be made on the beach one way, and path the other way.
As the original owners, we were able to add a few extras to our house, which everyone seems to appreciate. There's an extra window in the upstairs guest bedroom to give cross-ventilation and a view of the pool. The sun deck off of the master bedroom has a wood deck and railing for comfortable relaxing and sunning. For those cool winter and fall evenings, there's a wood-burning fireplace in the living room. There's a small balcony off of the downstairs guest bedroom, so your guests can sit outside in the evening in their own private space. The downstairs screened porch has a paddle fan and good lighting for a comfortable card game, or just relaxing.

Wings You Can't See~~~~ Boca Grande Beach
Mid April on the beach of Boca Grande Florida...Just north of Ft. Myers on the west coast with my nieces and nephew...Here we have besides beauty galore a very modest amount of beach goers which makes for lots of leg room, relaxation and no parking nightmares!
The next video will be from famous Siesta Key Florida where you will be able to see the difference in the sand and it only being 40 minutes north along the coast yet it is like white baby powder coupled with the many colorful umbrella's in harmony with the teal blue water then add a dash salty sea air and you might think you are there...yet, what was that? That bird just took my sandwich out of my hand. Hey kid no running...you're kicking up sand! Sunburned, unorganized and tired when realizing you paid $10 to park 2 miles away...and now you have to walk back to your car bla`bla`bla will they make it?
LQQK for them here on YouTube soon...Summer on Siesta

Boca Grande, Florida | Gasparilla Island, Florida | Florida's Best Kept Secret
You may hear it called Boca Grande Island, Boca Grande, or Gasparilla Island, Florida. This place is AMAZING! It costs $6 to cross the bridge over to the island. Once you arrive, you immediately feel like you have stepped back into time. Everyone is either walking, biking, or cruising on a golf cart. If you get the chance to visit, GO... I can't say enough good things about this hidden gem we stumbled upon.
The island offers 7 miles of gorgeous white sand beach and some of the best shell collecting. I have never seen so many shells!!! The best spot we found for shells was at the very tip of the island, near the large rock boulders. No shortage of public beach accesses and ample amount of parking.
We found the island to be populated with mostly locals as oppose to tourists. This place must be Florida's best kept secret, seriously. I am in awe the island isn't booming with tourism. Everywhere you go here gives you the old Florida feel.
So many things to do on this perfect little island:
it has a golf course
cheap golf cart rentals - get one & cruise the island
amazing beaches & shell collecting
glass bottom kayaks
great restaurants & shopping
boating
fishing
the lighthouse
state park
the list goes on and on....
