Hiking Grape Vine Canyon in Laughlin NV | BullheadBytheHorns | We lose our minds
Grape Vine Canyon is one of the most scenic areas in our community, and hiking it is one of the most rewarding ways to get some light to moderate exercise. We hiked to the back of the canyon where you can find an impressive waterfall after rain storms. This hike requires some scrambling and is not recommended for everyone. know your own limits, don't travel alone, and let others know where you are going to be before you leave.
Share this video with your friends to challenge them to make it all the way to the back of the canyon with you.

Laughlin to Grapevine Canyon Nevada
This is a quick drive from Laughlin to Grapevine Canyon in Nevada.
Petroglyphs At Grapevine Canyon
In this video I take a small hike on the Grapevine Canyon Trail to see some Native American Petroglyphs. This Trail is located in the Spirit Mountain Wilderness Nearby Laughlin, NV. off of Christmas Tree Rd. This hike has many images carved into the sun baked rocks by early Native Americans. This is a short quarter mile hike to the Petroglyphs or you can scramble up some rocks further up to see some seasonal waterfalls.

Grapevine Canyon
Grapevine Canyon is but a long stones throw from Laughlin, Nevada. Managed by the BLM, it even has 1st. class restroom facilities at the trailhead! The mouth of the canyon has the most stunning display of petroglyphs you are likely to see anywhere. Both sides of the canyons walls are covered, top to bottom, with archaic geometric rock carvings. It is, in a word, overwhelming. There is a spring here, which in this desert clime became a sacred place to the people who depended on its waters. You too will feel the power of this place...it is unmistakeable...

The Colorado River town of Laughlin is surrounded by really unique scenic areas. Although Laughlin is best know for its casinos, you should drive up a couple of dirt roads that are close to Laughlin. Although these roads are not paved, they are easily traveled by any auto. The first location is off Christmas Tree Pass Road which intersects Nevada 163. A short distance up the road is Grapevine Canyon. There you will find outstanding petrographs. Just a a short walk from the parking area, you will find a plethora artwork along the walls of the canyon. The second location is Thumb Butte (although it may be argued that it is not a thumb that is raised). The Thumb Butte dirt road is unmarked but it is just east of mile marker 6 on Arizona Route 68. You actually do not need a sign since the Butte can not be ignored. The city of Laughlin is between these two areas on Nevada Route 163.

Christmas Tree Pass What Hiding There? Shhh You Didn't Hear It From Me!
Even if you are a local you probably have never heard of this place and for good reason. The Indian Council + Parks and Recs are tight lipped about this place. What are they hiding? I previously uploaded a version of this with the full drive included by mistake so here is the to the point version. DON'T FORGET TO Check out my Patreon page and be the first one to support us at

It was freakin hot but a great ride. Temp on Weather Channel showed 108, but there were spots hotter than that.

Grapevine Canyon
Our trip to Grapevine was unplanned so we did not venture all the way down into the bottom of the canyon. It is best to let others know where you are going when you go that far off road. We had NO cell phone service or we might have taken the chance to go further. A beautiful place, so peaceful.
Grapevine Canyon - California
Located on the north slopes of the San Bernardino mountains on the east end of Apple Valley and overlooking Lucerne Valley is a hidden gem named Grapevine Canyon. The trail starts at BLM Juniper Flats boundary and ascends over 3000 feet showcasing breath taking views of the entire Victor Valley and Lucerne Valley's below. The trail will twist and turn as it carves up the canyon walls while you're treated with spectacular views along the entire way (you will also have plenty of areas to stop and pull over to enjoy the views and take pictures). During the evening hours, the city lights will light up the valleys below while still remaining dark enough to take in the starlight from up above. There are even some cool points of interest along your way if you look hard enough - from rock faces to scenic views you will find this trail to be very rewarding.
