Myanmar ( Burma ) with bicycle in Nyaung Shwe !
Nyaung Shwe is a town a few kilometers north of Inle Lake in the Shan State of Myanmar. It is located south of Sakangyi and southwest of Taunggyi. Bawrithat Pagoda lies in the southern part of the town.
Nyaung Shwe is the tourist hub for visiting Inle Lake. It consists of one main thoroughfare with numerous side streets and a few parallel roads. The main street has numerous shops, several restaurants, a few stupas, travel agencies and a market (located behind the storefronts). Near the end of this road, a bridge crosses the river channel near an impressive mirror-tiled stupa.

Cultural Cycling Tour of Burma
Mountain Kingdoms
The best way to experience all the amazing sights and sounds of Burma is undoubtedly on two wheels as you can see in this short video of Mountain Kingdoms cycling tour of Burma.
This cycling holiday is aimed at leisure cyclists who want to discover the key attractions of Burma (also called Myanmar) as well as some lesser-known sights but from a different perspective. With little traffic and gently rolling landscapes, Burma is an ideal destination to explore on two wheels. Each day is taken at a relaxed pace with ample opportunity to stop, take photographs and meet the friendly, local people.
The holiday takes in many of Burma’s main cultural treasures starting with the magnificent, golden, Shwedagon Pagoda in the capital city of Yangon. Next is the vast temple complex in Bagan. With over 2,000 temples and pagodas, covering an area of around 16 square miles, a bicycle is the ideal way to explore places that are well off-the-beaten-track.
Other highlights include gentle rides along the plains of the Irrawaddy river, the undulating hills of Sagaing, U Bein’s teak bridge, the ‘cracked’ temple of Mingun and the intricately carved Hsinbyume pagoda. Along the way you will be welcomed by curious locals and smiling children delighted to meet you a share a little of their way of life.
The tour also travels to beautiful Inle Lake where, easy lakeside paths can be travelled by foot or bike whilst the floating market, and famed leg rowers can be visited on a boat ride across the tranquil waters. From Inle Lake a train ride across the impressive Gokteik Viaduct, which spans a gorge over 100m deep, takes you to the lesser visited Shan Plateau region. Here, rides along rural backroads and through remote villages will give an insight into traditional Burmese life that has hardly changed over the years.
Travel Burma by bicycle and you will discover an authentic side of this fascinating country that few visitors get to experience.

Far off the beaten path, Shan picnics take place in a bamboo forest glade---Indein or Taung Toe---in the shadows of exquisite Belle Epoque hangings. These special dejeuner sur l'herbe take place near ancient pagodas and ruins. Guests sit on pillows around a natural woven palm mat while enjoying a luxurious picnic.

The People, The Culture, The Food - Myanmar | Part 1: Inle Lake
Often called a must-see place to visit in Myanmar, Inle Lake is majestic. The tourism industry has hit it, but it remains an authentic taste of rural Myanmar. We rode bicycles around the countryside, took a boat tour, and enjoyed the quaint town of Nyaung Shwe.
