Rockport Texas : Goose Island State Park : Gulf Of Mexico : Full Time Overlanding
We are more grateful each day for the opportunity to be out here full time overlanding.
The look of the Gulf of Mexico is postcard perfect to me!
Despite the mosquitos and the weather we wouldn't want to be doing anything else. Full time overlanding is the life for us!
Seeing the issues other communities face and the solutions they come up with gives me a whole world view of the network of people that make this world go around and save the world from the rest of us.
Our time in the gulf is coming to a close join us next week for our last beach adventures in Texas.

Port Aransas, Tx 5 months post Hurricane Harvey
I took some pictures today around Port Aransas! It’s been 5 months and although there has a lot of progress these pictures do not do the devastation justice! People that are not living it can’t understand why residents that are normally upbeat are sometimes struggling to keep it all together from day to day. Many of my friends homes have not even started to be repaired and they will have to soon move from rentals for the Spring/Summer season rentals ..... if they have even yet been able to return here at all!!!! Please pray for the residents of Port Aransas because this could be you or your family going through this tomorrow!!!! ????

Family displaced by Mexico quake at shelter in capital city
(21 Sep 2017) On rubber mats spread across a Mexico City recreation centre, the Montero family huddles under donated wool blankets, their first new possessions after abandoning their apartment following the deadly magnitude 7.1 earthquake.
Across the capital thousands of Mexicans are now believed to be homeless after the tremor levelled entire buildings and left others teetering on the edge of collapse.
Men, women and children are now filling up gyms and event halls at more than two dozen designated shelters.
Many are uncertain where they will go next, but grateful to have a safe refuge.
I am sure nothing is going to fall here, 7-year-old Oscar Montero says.
The Montero family lived on the first floor of a seven-storey apartment building that on Tuesday became perilously sandwiched between neighbouring towers on each side that have begun caving in.
No one in the family of five was home during the quake.
Oscar and his two older siblings were all at school, his parents at work.
Claudia Antonio, Oscar's mother, entered the home quickly after the quake after to salvage her children's birth certificates and vaccination records.
Other neighbours pulled out valuables such as fridges and microwaves.
In the first night after the tremor, some slept outside with the items they had pulled from the wobbly buildings.
The Montero family decided they would go to the Junior Club recreation centre.
The Junior Club is typically a place where children come to swim in the lap pool and adults spin on gym bikes.
In the days since the quake it has become one of countless makeshift homes of refuge, receiving piles of donated bottled water, nappies and toys.
On a second floor, dozens of the newly displaced camp out on sleeping mats and share their stories.
Teams of volunteer workers visit with each family to determine their needs.
Claudia Antonio said she felt calm knowing that they would be safe at the centre and I know I am with my children.
Her son, Oscar, a boy with deep brown eyes whose playful energy sends him bouncing through the halls of the shelter, said the initial tremor didn't scare him.
He comforted the frightened children at his school.
But he is afraid to go home in case there is another quake.

Virginia's on the Bay, battered but not beaten
PORT ARANSAS, Texas - Virginia's on the Bay in Port Aransas has had a strong economic presence in the city since the 1950s. It started off as a bait shop and has since evolved into one of the premiere restaurant slash bars in the tourism driven town.
Miraculously, the old building did not falter to Hurricane Harvey, like so many other businesses in the area unfortunately did.
Owners and staff told KRIS news that the strength of their structure was beyond impressive and after 3 weeks of intensive clean up, they are ready to serve their community once again.
We're excited, we love Port A and just so grateful to be able to work, said Virginia's manager, Alice Berrow.
The Virginia's on the Bay crew know it could have been worse.
