Grave of Ibrahim Lodhi
The tomb is situated near Tehsil Office at Panipat. Ibrahim Lodhi fought fiercely with Babur, in the battle known to us today as the “First Battle of Panipat” and was slain and buried at this place. It was one of Sher Shah Suri’s dying regret that he could never fulfill his intention of erecting a tomb to the fallen monarch. Much later, the British erected a plain plateform over the place, with a short Urdu Insscription on it.
Another memorial of some kind, however, appears to have existed which used to form a place of pilgrimage for the people of Gwalior since Vikramaditya the last Raja of the old Towrebs dyansty of Gwalior, fell in the same battle. This memorial, according to general Cunningham, was destroyed when the Grand Trunk Road was made.
THIS HISTORIC GRAVE IS SITUATED AROUND 90 KM FROM THE CAPITAL OF INDIA NEW DELHI. IT BELONGS TO IBRAHIM LODHI. AS A RESULT OF THE FIRST BATTLE OF PANIPAT BETWEEN BABAR AND IBRAHIM LODHI, IBRAHIM LODHI WAS KILLED IN THE BATTLEFIELD. THIS PRESENT OPEN TOMB WAS BUILT BY THE BRITISH IN 1866 WHEN THEY WERE WIDENING THE GRANT TRUCK ROAD(GT ROAD),ACTUALLY IT WAS MOVED FROM ITS ORIGINAL PLACE. IT IS BELIEVED THERE WAS A MEMORIAL MONUMENT OF KING VIKRMADITYA OF GWALIOR AT THE NEAR BY PLACE BUT THAT MONUMENT WAS DESTROYED AND WIPED OFF FROM THE HISTORY.

The Tomb of Ibrahim Lodi in Panipat(Haryana, India) is the tomb of Ibrahim Lodi, Sultan of the Lodi dynasty. Ibrahim Lodi's tomb is often mistaken to be the Shisha Gumbad within Lodi Gardens Delhi. Rather Ibrahim Lodi's tomb is actually situated near the tehsil office in Panipat, close to the Dargah of Sufi saint Bu Ali Shah Qalandar.[1][2][3] It is a simple rectangular structure on a high platform approached by a flight of steps.Ibrahim Lodi became the Sultan of Delhi in 1517 after the death of his father Sikandar. He was the last ruler of the Lodi dynasty, reigning for nine years between 1517 until being defeated and killed at the battle of Panipat by Babur's invading army in 1526, giving way to the emergence of the Mughal Empire in India.[4][5]
Ibrahim was an ethnic Pashtun. He attained the throne upon the death of his father, Sikandar, but was not blessed with the same ruling capability. He faced a number of rebellions. The Mewar ruler Rana Sangram Singh extended his empire right up to western Uttar Pradesh and threatened to attack Agra. There was rebellion in the East also. Ibrahim Lodi also displeased the nobility when he replaced old and senior commanders by younger ones who were loyal to him. His Afghan nobility eventually invited Babur to invade India.
In 1526, the Mughal forces of Babur, the king of Kabulistan (Kabul, Afghanistan), defeated Ibrahim's much larger army in the Battle of Panipat. Ibrahim was killed during the battle at Panipat and his tomb now lies there. It is estimated that Babur's forces numbered around 25,000–30,000 men and had between 20 and 24 pieces of field artillery. Ibrahim Lodi had around 30,000–40,000 men along with at least 100 elephants. After the end of Lodi dynasty, the era of Mughal rule commenc

First Battle of Panipat (1526) || Mughal Babar vs Sultan Ibrahim lodhi fight for Delhi
First War of Panipat
Panipat has been described as the pivot of indian history for 300 years. And its story begins in the first great battle of 1526.After the fall of the sayyids, the afghan lodi dynasty had seized power at delhi. The power of the sultanate had decreased considerably at this time, though the sultan could still command significant resources. Ibrahim lodi, the third ruler was unpopular with the nobility for his persecution and execution of a large number of old nobles. A prominent noble,Daulat khan fearing for his life appealed to Zahir-ud-din Babur, the Timurid ruler of Kabul to come and depose ibrahim lodi. It was thought that babur would defeat lodi, plunder and leave. Babur however had different ideas.
Babur,a timurid prince with descent from Timur and Chingiz khan had originally inherited the kingdom of fergana — one of the brekaway regions in the aftermath of the breakup of the once mighty timurid empire. The twoforemost powers in the region at this time were the Safavids of Iran and The Uzbeks of central asia. Squeezed between them babur had to fight for survival. Gaining and losing Samarkand 3 times he eventually moved to Kabul in 1504,where he aimed to consolidate a powebase. It was here that he came into touch with India and between 1504 and 1524 had raided across the Northwestern frontier 4 times. His main goal at this time was to consolidate his position in Afghanisthan by crushing the rebellious pathan tribes of the region, particularly the Yusufzais. Having given up his aspirations of retaking Samarkand in 1512 he now dreamed of a new empire east of the Indus, and bided his time for an oppurtunity. In the Baburnama he writes that as these territories were once conquered by timurlane he felt it was his natural birthright and he resolved to acquire them by force if necessary. The invitation of the Afghan chiefs provided him with this opportunity.
