50 million fossil tree from Simla Himalayas by Ritesh Arya
1st report of fossil tree from the white sandstone at contact between marine Subathu Formation and red Dagshai Formation - Ritesh Arya
Fossil trees have a great significance in interpreting and understanding the taphonomic conditions at the time of deposition. In Simla Himalayas the fossil trees have been known from Kasauli Formation and one of the best logs of fossil tree discovered by Ritesh Arya has been preserved in Jagjitnagar in the vicinity of Kasauli town. Last year a log was saved from extinction near Kumarhati on Barog bypass road when a chance discovery due to cutting of the 4 lane highway led to the exposure of the fossil tree which was saved from extinction. Their occurrence in large numbers indicate for sure that the angiosperms flourished in the area under global warming conditions and the flooding led to the uprooting of the trees and later deposited them in river channels.
The underlying red Dagshai Formation is considered to be more or less unfossiliferous and represent more drier and cooling continental conditions where paedogenesis is dominant in the lower part and upper part is represented by channel sandstone with equal thickness of clay in upper part.
Lower part of Dagshai Formation is in contact with white sandstone which overlie the green marine Subathu Formation marked by alteration of red and green shales .
All the divisions of the various geological formations were done on very mechanical basis with little of no connection in their environment and everything was pre conditionally believed to be deposited in the sinking foreland basin formed in response to the rising Himalayas and all the sediments were derived from these evolving mountain ranges. But actually this is not the complete truth. The sediments were deposited in the fast sinking basin but the sediments to fill in the sink were not deposited from the rising Himalayas but were deposited from paleo High mountain ranges with their latitudinal position slightly north of equator. So the whole geodynamic of the Himalayan evolution goes for a 6. If the entire so called Tethyan Himalayan ranges were deposited and formed near the equator then the paleolatitudinal positions and later thier transportation northwards leading to final culmination of suturing of Indian plate with Chinese plate leading to the evolution of Himalayas.

Unbelievable Dagshai meusium by #Angadvlogs
The Dagshai Jail Museum, Solan
Dagshai jail museum is a former British prison which is now a museum frequented by tourists. Dhagshai is one of the oldest cantonment towns in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Earlier the place was used as a storage yard. After it was cleaned up with the help of the army, a well designed structure emerged. Later, this place was converted into a museum. It is the only museum in India which is the only jail museum in India apart from the Cellular Jail in the Andamans.
A trip through the jail blocks is as chilling now as it was in the British era. Construction of the jail began in 1849 and included 54 maximum cellular cells. These cells have two doors that are three feet apart. There is one cell for those who were to be meted out exceptionally harsh punishment. There is no source of ventilation and light in the cells of the Dagshai Jail. There is only one VIP cell in the jail — with luxuries such as a fireplace and washroom. Not even a single prison was able escape from the jail.
The jail came into the limelight after the Irish mutiny. To provide moral support to the Irish people, Mahatma Gandhi even stayed in this jail for one year. The Gorkha rebels of the Nasiri Regiment, who had rebelled during the 1857 revolt, were also brought here.
On November 2, 1920, the leader James Daly of the mutiny- a 21-year-old private - was shot by a firing squad in the prison courtyard. He was buried at the Dagshai Cemetery until 1970 when his remains were repatriated to Ireland and given a funeral with full military honors. The Dagshai Cellular Jail is a historical place that time has forgotten. Later the museum was established here with the help of Brigade Commander of the area and Himachal Tourism Department. The museum exhibited about the 160-year-old history of the museum.

haunted places in delhi - CHOR MINAR STORY bye the thaat
Chor Minar, 'Tower of Thieves' is a 13th-century minaret with 225 holes, situated just off Aurobindo Marg in the Hauz Khas area, in New Delhi. It was built under the rule of Alauddin Khalji, (1290–1320) in the thirteenth century. According to local legends, it was a 'tower of beheading', where the severed heads of thieves were displayed on spear through its 225 holes, to act as a deterrent to thieves,[2][6] though some historian suggest that the Khalji king slaughtered a settlement of Mongol people, nearby, to stop them from joining with their brethren in another Mongol settlement in Delhi, the present day locality of 'Mongolpuri'. During the raid of Ali Beg, Tartaq and Targhi (1305), 8,000 Mongol prisoners were executed and their heads displayed is the towers around Siri

Delhiwonders : Gandhak Ki Baoli
In fact Delhi is the land of baolis both big and small and scattered over various parts of the city built by different rulers. As of today, most of them are lying unused or even for that matter, misused. While they were the main source of drinking water in the olden times, they are now lying unused because of the preference for water tanks. The baolis in the capital generally have two long side walls, buttressed by an arc or two, which form part of the short wall opposite the steps that lead to the baoli(well). Most of the baolis were built by Muslim invaders to solve the water crisis in the city. A baoli is a deep well with flights of steps descending to the water. A large number of them are located in the Mehrauli area where the first Muslim city emerged around the Qutab Complex.
