Right now there's about 3,500 targets out there and we also have a display of weather. You can see a severe cold front coming from southern Canada all the way down to Arkansas and Texas and it's adversely affecting many of the major airports in this country causing some delays. What the reaction we usually get from the public, the first thing is they cannot believe that there are so many aircraft in the system. The second reaction is that if they are headed for an airport that is affected by weather they can now understand why they are taking a delay.

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Cindy Baraban, Traveller:
Pretty good. I mean we're a little concerned because there is wintry mix there and in Indiana there is some rain and freezing rain a little bit with some snow coming in, so we're a little concerned. We're keeping our fingers crossed.
9. Pan of passengers at airline counter
10. SOUNDBITE (English) Heather Orman, Traveller:
Oh, well this morning I left Charleston (North Carolina) about 5:00 a.m. (1000 GMT) actually my flight was at 6:30 (1130 GMT). I had everything confirmed through text messages and everything. Got to Reagan (National Airport) for a layover, proceeded to the gate and our plane was downsized and my row on the plane didn't exist anymore.

STORYLINE
With winter storms predicted in across the United States on Wednesday evening travellers braced themselves for delays as they tried to make their way home for the holidays.
Snow storms in several major US cities have caused flight delays or cancellations and caused chaos for airlines as they scrabbled to change layovers originally scheduled for the affected airports.
One traveller, Heather Orman of South Carolina said she left her destination on time but reached her first layover to find that the plane had been downsized and she no longer had a seat.
At Washington, DC's Reagan National Airport officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) showcased a new system that allows passengers to see actual air traffic and backups across the country.
The computerised system also shows weather patterns as well, illustrating why some flights were experiencing delays.
The National Weather Service has posted winter storm warnings and advisories for large parts of the western United States along with parts of the Midwest and most of the Northeast.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (IATA: DCA, ICAO: KDCA, FAA LID: DCA) is a major airport 3 miles (4.8 km) south of downtown Washington, D.C., in Arlington County, Virginia. It is the nearest commercial airport to Washington, D.C and serves the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. For decades it was called Washington National Airport; it was renamed in 1998 to honor former U.S. President Ronald Reagan. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) operates the airport with close oversight by the federal government due to its proximity to the national capital.
Reagan National is a hub for US Airways, Reagan National's largest carrier. US Airways Shuttle has near-hourly air shuttle flights to New York LaGuardia Airport and Logan International Airport in Boston, and Delta Air Lines' Delta Shuttle has near-hourly air shuttle flights to LaGuardia.

1bicycleddie rides along side of Rt 123 Fairfax, VA Nov. 23 2012 Thanksgiving 55 degrees
1bicycleddie Autumn/Thanksgiving 2012 Northern Virginia . I filmed these short clips to build one video that shows what it is like to ride on one of the best suburban bike paths I have ever ridden on, the path that runs next to VA Rt. 123 in the Fairfax area. The path is heavily used by people that live in the numerous upscale housing developments run along both sides of Rt.123.
This is a wonderful place to ride since the path has been here for years and so the locals are the users so the people in cars are usually locals as well, the cars respect you in a manner that is world class. This area has a heavy concentration of active duty and retired military, so the people are world travelers and follow the rules.
Each of these short videos are put on you tube in an effort to display to an inquisitive person that may want to increase their cycling time, to ask how is it to cycle in December in the Northeast.
I want to load these paragraphs with keywords so as to link my videos to many more spyders scrubbing and leading to my videos being linked to websites all over the world.
1bicycleddie videos on Gogle show up on the first 8 pages and lead to my videos being posted and watched in all over the world. This sort of bicycling, on the first Thanksgiving 2012 video reminds me of cycling in the Highlands of VA and in the Cumberland Valley of PA. The third video shows riding in Fairfax County along a major state road that has a world class bike running along side of it.
VA Financing Facts for REALTORS | Maura Neill, REALTOR
REALTORS®, if you are unfamiliar with VA financing or you haven’t worked with a VA borrower lately, you may have some outdated misconceptions about VA financing. The VA has made substantial and positive changes in recent years. Old and often vague complaints about VA loans – taking too long to close, being too complex, being an inferior loan product – have been heard, and the VA has worked hard to overcome those challenges and stigma.

If you’re a REALTOR and you you are unfamiliar with VA financing or you haven’t worked with a VA borrower lately, you may have some outdated misconceptions about VA financing. In the words of Mike Frueh, the Director of Loan Guaranty Service at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, “this isn’t your grandfather’s VA.”
The VA has made substantial and positive changes in recent years. Old – and often vague – complaints about VA loans – taking too long to close, being too complex, being an inferior loan product – have been heard, and the VA has worked hard to overcome those challenges and stigma.
Here’s are some recent facts about VA Financing:
VA Loans have a higher close rate than both Conventional and FHA Loans. According to Ellie Mae, over the summer months of 2014, VA Loans have had a higher success rate for closing on home purchases. For September 2014, 71.2% of VA Loans for home purchases closed, compared with 66.3% of Conventional Loans and only 59.6% of FHA Loans.
On average, VA loans close more quickly than any other loan type in the industry, at 37 days, compared with 39 days for Conventional (with 20% down) and 41 days for FHA Loans.
Additionally, VA home buyers have, on average, a higher credit score than FHA borrowers – an average credit score of 705 compared with 682 for FHA borrowers, and only slightly below the average Conventional borrowers at 755. However, the VA does not require a minimum or specific credit score in order for a borrower to qualify for a guaranteed loan; instead the VA requires that the lender evaluate the borrower’s ability to repay the loan instead of basing it solely on credit score.
Finally, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has improved the timeliness for appraisal reviews, reducing review time to an industry-leading 7.2 days, down from 8.36 days in Fiscal Year 2013. The VA increased the number of appraisers on the VA Fee Panel by 2,000 since 2012, and the newly-implemented Automated Appraisal Management Service functionality has standardized the appraisal review process and reduced cycle times.
As REALTORS, it’s important that we educate ourselves on VA financing – one of the benefits offered to US Servicemen and –women, veterans, retirees, National Guard and Reservists as part of the GI Bill. Celebrating its 70th year, the VA Home Loan Program has helped secure more than 21 million mortgages for American veterans and active duty service members.
We owe it to our veterans to make sure we are up to date and well informed about this important benefit – after all, they earned it.
