Sevilen Vineyards & Wineries
In 1942, after having discovered vineyards and winemaking in France, Mr. Isa Guner, a first-generation immigrant from Bulgaria, founded his own winery in Izmir, Turkey. Understanding that there was outstanding natural potential in Turkey for wine production, he purchased 4 hectares and started planting vineyards. In 1958, Mr. Guner's sons, Mr. Gokhan Guner and Mr. Coskun Guner joined the business developing the property to 50 hectares. Nowadays the property, composed of 160 hectares of vineyard and a first class restaurant (Isabey), is managed by the third generation of the Guner family. They are assisted by experienced French consultant Mr. Florent Dumeau from the Bordeaux region. Sevilen Group has been working on the terroir approach (Soil, local climate and vineyard architecture, rootstock, varietal, vine spacing, leaf area per hectare, crop per vine) with already outstanding results.
Today, Sevilen produces grapes for premium wines on two sites:
• Aegean area, around Izmir, a warm Mediterranean climate
• Anatolia plateau, a cool Mediterranean climate
In Izmir (150 metres of elevation) climate conditions are close to those of Bari or Athens. In the Anatolian plateau (900 metres of elevation), climate conditions are similar to the Rhône valley (Hermitage, Chateauneuf du Pape) but drier during the summer. On both sites, soils are unique with a complex distribution, alternation of chalk and shale (heavy clay) and occurrence of limestone.
This diversity of soil and climate allows the production of very qualitative white and red wine always presenting a unique expression. After having totally restructured part of his vineyard, plus adding new plantations, Sevilen Group now produces ten million bottles/ year of qualitative wines.
Winemaking techniques are very modern. With a full brand new reception (double sorting table), the pre-fermentative process respects the integrity of the grapes, which are all hand-harvested. Working with gravity, juices and wines are moved as carefully as possible throughout the aging process. A selection of top French cooperage, in association with a Turkish university, has been developed in order to research the best solutions for our wines.
Now Sevilen exporting to United Kingdom , United States , People Republic of China , Denmark , Germany, Holland, Austria , Australia, Dubai, Belgium, Sweden ...

Dr. Roger Boulton - Jess S. Jackson Winery - UC Davis - LEED
Dr. Roger Boulton is the mastermind behind the sustainable systems at the Jess S. Jackson Winery on the UC Davis Campus, the only LEED Platinum Certified Winery in the World.
The one-story, 8,500 square-foot building will house equipment and systems for capturing and sequestering carbon dioxide from wine fermentation, and for filtering and recirculating water for wine, beer and food processing. It is expected to be the first building at any university to be certified Net Zero Energy under the Living Building Challenge and only the second such building in California.
Dr. Boulton is a Professor & Chemical Engineer Stephen Sinclair Scott Endowed Chair in Enology Department of Viticulture and Enology Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
Dr. Boulton studies the chemical and biochemical engineering aspects of winemaking and distilled spirits production. His work involves fermentation and reaction kinetics; physical and chemical stability of wines; the mathematical modeling, computer simulation and control of enological operations; winery design (winemaking equipment selection, winery design and layout) and the economics of investment and operation. His current research involves a major effort into the phenomenon of copigmentation, a major color phenomenon in red wines, as well as fermentation interests involving juice composition and sulfide formation. Dr. Boulton's teaching covers the general areas of the physical and chemical stability of wines (VEN 126, 126L), the process equipment and winery design (VEN 135, 235), the production of distilled spirits from fermented beverages (VEN 140) and Biomanufacturing (ECH 160).
Dr. Boulton is a member of the Jurade de Saint Emilion and was appointed the Stephen Sinclair Scott Endowed Chair in Enology in January 2000. In 2000 he was named among the 50 Most influential people in the US Wine Industry by Wines and Vines Magazine. In 1998, he and three colleagues (Vernon Singleton, Linda Bisson and Ralph Kunkee) received the Office International de la Vigne et du Vin (OIV) Prize in Oenology for their text The Principles and Practices of Winemaking. This text has been translated into Spanish and Chinese while still in its first edition. Dr. Boulton has been awarded the Outstanding Paper of the Year prize in the American Journal for Enology and Viticulture on four occasions, and was the Eminent Speaker in Chemical Engineering, chosen by the Australian Institute of Engineers in 1995. He has significant international involvement in the development of enology curricula, the teaching of short courses and advising wineries throughout the world. Dr. Boulton received both his Bachelor's and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

CHERRY ORCHARD & 'ROCKS' AVA VINEYARD POTENTIAL - $265,000
CHERRY ORCHARD & ‘ROCKS’ AVA VINEYARD POTENTIAL - $265,000
This is a highly sought after Rocks District of Milton Freewater irrigated property that is currently planted in cherries. The orchard is located on the Southern edge of the ‘Rocks AVA’ with approximately half lying within the boundary making it a very desirable location for a vineyard. This property is accessed via Chuckhole Lane, a paved lane just off of County Road 650. Per the Umatilla County Assessor, there are 8.23 +/- total acres with all 8.23 acres shown as tillable and zoned Exclusive Farm Use with minimum 10 acre parcel size.
The West side of the orchard was planted in 1999 and the East side in 2001 in Chelan Cherries with Bing Pollinators. The mature cherry trees produced 44,560 pounds of cherries for the 2018 crop. There are 8 acres of surface water rights through the Walla Walla River Irrigation District and the orchard hosts a gravity fed irrigation system. To prevent frost damage to the property, a 100HP electric wind machine will be included in the sale. The orchard operation boasts a good return on investment to the owner via a crop share lease.
The ‘Rocks District AVA’ is one of the world’s premiere wine growing regions and a sub-appellation of the Walla Walla Valley AVA. The Rocks District is almost exclusively one soil type, which is derived from the cobblestone-rich gravels deposited by the Walla Walla River, the only AVA of its kind in the U.S. Due to the texture, the soil is well drained, which encourages the vines to bare deep roots and discourages erosion. The surface stones radiate heat that warms the clusters of grapes and influences taste during ripening. The property would be in an ideal location for grape production.
