Great Beach Drive - Noosa to Rainbow Beach
Great Beach Drive von Noosa bis Rainbow Beach | Queensland
Beim Great Beach Drive in Queensland erleben Australien-Reisende einen erstklassigen Roadtrip.

4K Fraser Island Queensland AUSTRALIA Part 20 オーストラリア
Fraser Island is a heritage-listed island located along the southeastern coast of the state of Queensland, Australia. It is approximately 250 kilometres north of the state capital, Brisbane.
Its length is about 123 kilometres and its width is approximately 22 kilometres. It was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1992.The island is considered to be the largest sand island in the world at 1,840 km2.It is also Queensland's largest island, Australia's sixth largest island and the largest island on the East Coast of Australia. It was formerly the homeland of the Butchulla tribe.
The island has rainforests, eucalyptus woodland, mangrove forests, wallum and peat swamps, sand dunes and coastal heaths. It is made up of sand that has been accumulating for approximately 750,000 years on volcanic bedrock that provides a natural catchment for the sediment which is carried on a strong offshore current northwards along the coast.
The island is protected in the Great Sandy National Park.

174. Noosa Northshore Beachfront Campground, Noosa Qld
The Noosa Northshore Beachfront Campground is a fabulous location surrounded by National Park across the Noosa River from Tewantin on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
The Campground is positioned directly beside the beach, just metres from the breaking waves which you can listen to as you go to sleep.
Ferry costs are $7 for a car, $9 for our 8m Motorhome and $16 for 4wd and Caravan one way.
There is no drinking water so bring that with you as well as cash to pay for the Ferry and Campground costs.
There are No pets, No Generators and No Fires allowed at the Campground.
We had Telstra and Vodafone coverage however in the Campground we did find it slow. At the beach we had normal good coverage.
The Campground is closing for renovations from July to October in 2018. The amenities will be improved and sites will be allocated.
Cost to stay is $29 unpowered, there are a few powered sites and they are $36 per night.
Our stay was 18-21st April 2018

Australia's Magnificent East Cost | Brisbane, Noosa, and Byron Bay
I flew over from Perth to Brisbane in order to spend two weeks on the East Coast of Australia. This video covers about the first 5 days of travelling, north up to Noosa Heads and Inskip Point, and back south to Byron Bay. As with most places so far on my trip, I could easily have spent much longer at each stop as there’s always more to see, but I was happy that I’d made the most of the time I did have. I hope you enjoy following me on this segment of my trip, and keep an eye of for my next (and probably most favourite) part, the Blue Mountains, coming soon!

4x4 Offroad Fishing Adventure @ Teewah Beach/Double Island Point
Hey Guys and Gals!
In this video my Wife Lisa and I head up to Teewah Beach and spend the day swimming and fishing! We get a great catch and
I get the biggest whiting I have ever caught!
To get to Teewah Beach you take the barge from Tewantin to Noosa North Shore which will cost you $7 at the moment. After the short barge ride across the river you follow a bitumen road for a few k's until you reach the entry to the beach were its time to air down those tyres! I usually drop my pressure to around 20PSI for normal beach driving and if the going gets tough down to 16PSI.
We follow the beach north and find some Pipi mounds and Lisa shows you how to find pipi's for fishing bait. After collecting enough pipi's for a days fishing we continue north towards the Fresh Water Track.
We spot a nice gutter and decide to pull up and thrown in our lines. After a few minutes we had 2 fish in the bucket. Then we met up with Lisa's mum Lynn and her partner Rob. We move spots due to a bit of weed getting stuck on the lines and find another good spot.
I caught my biggest whiting yet at 38cm! Rob calls them elbow slappers haha!
So after a successful day fishing we head home and cook up a feast with our fresh fish! Oooooo yeah!

Rainbow Beach, Coloured Sands, Double Island Point Lighthouse
Take part in a truly Australian experience. Ride over the sand in a 4 WD, and discover your private, very own, best spot of beach.
Rainbow beach is the starting point for some of the most beautiful sights nature has to offer. Only 240 km from Brisbane (150 miles)
If you don’t have a 4 WD you can hire one or even take a 4 WD tour with one of the most established tour providers on the Cooloola Coast.
See the Coloured Sands. Have a soak in the salt water lagoons at Honeymoon Bay, take a swim in the surf or have a go at one of Queensland’s longest and safest surf breaks.
Hike up to the Double Island Point Lighthouse, and enjoy views over all of Rainbow Beach, out to Fraser Island or look south and see as far as Noosa.
From the base of the lighthouse, look out to sea. There is a good chance you’ll see some interesting sea life, including: dolphins, sharks, sea turtles. From July to November, you may even see some whales.
When it is time to head back to your accommodations you might detour from the beach and point your four wheel drive to the Cooloola Rainforest. Stop at Freshwater Day Use area for a picnic lunch. Read up on the forest at the information board and then head for the forest. All this and it is only 240 km from Brisbane.
Coloured Sands
The Coloured Sand Cliffs gave Rainbow Beach its name. Over 70 different colours make this a must see. These are impressive cliffs that can reach up to 200 metres.
Rainbow Beach was named for its famous coloured sands. The colours come from a combination of iron oxide and leached dye from the area’s vegetation. Australia’s indigenous population used the colour for the sand for painting and decorating their everyday objects.
From the Rainbow Beach Surf Lifesaving Club walk down the beach toward Double Island Point. After about 1 ½ km you will see the coloured sands. The coloured sands go on for about 10 or 11 km.
Dreamtime Story of the Coloured Sands
Way back in dream-time, there lived on the banks of the Noosa River a beautiful black maiden called Murrawar. She was in love with the Rainbow. The Rainbow would come to visit her every morning. She would clap her hands and sing to the Rainbow.
Murrawar was taken by Burwilla, a bad man from another tribe. He kept her for his slave wife. He beat her and had her do all his work. Burwilla had a terrible killing boomerang that was bigger than a tree and full of evil spirit.
Murrawar escaped and was running along the beach. Soon she saw the boomerang, it was coming to kill her. She called for help, as she fell to the ground. Suddenly she heard a loud noise and saw the Rainbow racing across the sea, it was coming to save her. The boomerang attacked the Rainbow, and they met with a thunderous crash.
The boomerang was killed instantly while the Rainbow was shattered into many pieces. The Rainbow fell to the beach, to die, and is still on the beach with all its colours.
Surf & Sand Safaris
Established in 1973, Surf & Sand Safaris is one of the longest operating 4WD tour companies in Queensland. Glenn Wiggins and his family have personally owned and operated the business since 2003. They love the area and enjoy sharing it with visitors.
After the first 10 minutes we felt as if we were traveling with friends. They were happy to share tips that will make my next self-drive visit more fun and less frustrating.
A great plus, is to not have to make the 2 km uphill trek to the Lighthouse. I understand that they are the only tour operator with keys to the gate and authorization to drive to the base of the lighthouse. On a hot day that alone is worth the cost of the trip.
