Sanchi, the stupa village, is situated 45 km away from Bhopal. The ancient trade route connecting Ujjain with rest of the ancient north India passed through it. In course of time few more stupa villages such as Andher, Murel-Khurd and Sonari sprang in the vicinity of Sanchi.
As one move towards Sanchi either by road or train one can see the main stupa from a distance of 4 km clearly visible amidst lush green landscape. The stupa is located on a hill whose height is 91 m (298.48 ft.) Over this sprawling hill majestically stood the main stupa with a commanding height of 71 ft (21.64 m) from the ground level to the original chatravali.
From the place where the ticket is checked, one can see the main stupa along with many recently conserved and excavated votive stupas. A thrilling experience to remember when one walks over the same place where Devi, wife of Emperor Asoka, and son Mahendra had walked over, several hundreds of years back. Imagine that two thousand three hundred years back thousand of pious monks and nuns might have flocked to this place in saffron robes for spiritual solace. It was considered so pious that many of them wanted to attain salvation here. Then, the whole area, the valley down below and mountains across it might have been reverberating with Buddham Sharnam Gachhami. The place was sanctified by the visit of Mahendra, son of Asoka, who came to meet his mother Devi, perhaps living in one of the cells of the monastery located near Stupa 2, clothed in saffron cloths and a begging bowl in hand.
It was from here, Mahendra, embarked on the missionary journey to Ceylon for propagating the message of the Buddha. From Ceylon, Buddhism spread to many countries of South East Asia such as Burma, Java, Sumatra, Thailand and Korea etc. Thus Sanchi is the proud mother of Buddhism to many South East Asian countries.
James Princep, who deciphered Brahmi, the script of ancient India, which was a sealed book till 1837, got his first clue for decipherment of Brahmi from Sanchi inscriptions most of which ending with the word danam (gift). With this clue and insight he was able to read Ashokan Edicts, Pillar inscriptions of Delhi and Allahabad, coins of several kings and hundreds of inscriptions. Had Sanchi not offered him the first clue of Brahmi script much of ancient Indian scripts like that of Harappan script might have been a sealed book for us. For many years Princep worked in the wilderness of Sanchi copying the inscriptions and then every morning wishfully gazing at unknown alphabets which concealed the history of India's past. The decipherment was a great moment not only in his life but also in the life of the ancient world. But the outstanding scholar died at the young age of forty.

‘The Lodhi Garden’ is FREE OF CHARGE ENTRY which is a gorgeous amalgamation of Mughal architecture and modern-day restoration which has tombs of Lodhi Dynasty rulers surrounded by stunning luscious garden. Earlier it was called Lady Willingdon Park but after independence of India it changed to Lodhi Garden. It is highly recommended to tourists; it also serves as a jogger park for the commoners. People also come here to visit this garden in their leisure hours and to relax here.
These gardens can give a breath of fresh air to the Delhites who can come here to take a break from their monotonous lifestyle which is mostly spent in traffic and pollution. These gardens help in maintaining the greenery which is utmost needed in Delhi.

was the daughter of a merchant of Vidisha. He erected the Great Stupa (Stupa 1) here after redistribution of mortal remains of Lord Buddha for erecting several stupas all over the
country in order to spread Buddhism. This stupa was originally a low structure of brick, half the diameter of the present edifice hemispherical in shape with raised terraces at the
base. It was enclosed by a wooden railing and a stone umbrella at the top. This Great Stupa served as a nucleus to the large Buddhist establishment during the later period.During
Sunga times, several edifices were raised at Sanchi and its surrounding hills. The Asokan stupa was enlarged and faced with stones and decorated with balustrades, staircases and a
harmika on the top.In the first century BC the Andhra-Satavahanas, who had extended their sway over the eastern Malwa, caused the elaborately carved gateways to Stupa 1. The
Great Stupa of Sanchi displays an austere grandeur and the exquisite carvings of the doorway depict in detail the significant episodes and miracles from Lord Buddha’s life and events
depicted in the Buddhist Jataka stories.

2500 Years Old Buddhist Stupa at Nalasopara A Hidden Historical Site built by Purna Maitrayaniputra
The 2500 years old Buddhist Stupa is located in Nalasopara. It was formerly known as Sopara of ancient India and lies in the Palghar district of Maharashtra.
The Stupa was built by Purna Maitrayani Putra and has huge historical importance.
Purna was amongst the 10 main disciples of Gautam Buddha and a Merchant from Sopara.
Inspired by the teachings of Buddha, he decided to build this stupa.
When the stupa was built, it’s height was 18ft and the diameter was 268ft.
Its bricks were of such superior quality that it has survived for more than 2500 years. Decorated in sandalwood, this monument is strikingly similar to the stupa in Sanchi, Madhya Pradesh.
A gateway decorated with Buddhist writings and carvings stands high at a road joint, nearby the stupa site.
It is said that Gautam Buddha himself visited the Stupa for inauguration along with 500 of his disciples and stayed at Nalasopara for a week.
Purna had asked Lord Buddha for his begging bowl. To keep Lord Buddha's memories alive and eternal.
In April 1882, Pandit Bhagwandas Indraji began excavations at this site and Along with the Stupa, he discovered the begging bowl, caskets, seals a stone coffer, gold figures, and eight metal sculptures of Buddhist deities. The coins and the artifacts found during the excavations at the site are now preserved in the museum of Asiatic Society, Mumbai.
The monument was declared to be of national importance by the Indian Government.
The beauty of this place is not in seeing it but in feeling the serenity around it.

Hampi is one of finest historical sites of ancient age in the world. It was the initial capital city of famous historical Vijayanagara Empire located on the bank of Tungabhadra River about 11 km away from Hospet City. Hampi is a small location covered an area of 25 sq. km. and it is totally bounded by mountains (Anjaneya, Malyavanta and Matanga Hills) by the three sites and rest one site is bordered by Tungabhadra River. It is believed by Hindus that Hampi was a kingdom of Monkeys (according to the Ramayana) before Vijayanagara Empire in pre-ancient age (around 1 CE) when the city was known as Kishkindha.
The traditional culture of Hampi will drag your mind to be a witness of this culture and architecture. Hampi was served as capital city of Vijayanagara Empire more over 200 years (around 1336 AD to 1565 AD). Vijayanagara Rulers decorated and designed this city with lots of lovely temples, palaces, market streets and monuments which made this location one of the famous ancient metropolises in India. This super ancient landscape is selected as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.
