Marylebone to Victoria and beyond via the Great Central
Take a trip along the whole of the Great Central Main Line in the 1960s, sometime between 1963 and 1966.
This thirty minute film starts in London and works its way north capturing steam and diesel traction, local and express services, stations large and small.
The smaller village stations have already closed and some signals have been torn down. However enough of the trunk route to London survives to experience its unique flavour. The camera lingers for sometime at Leicester Central and Nottingham Victoria.
A superb film now presented with a recreated sound track, filmed by Brian Healey, a supporter of the preserved Great Central.
British Steam Train Derailment !! Great Central Railway
The title say's it all really and unfortunately today just after 10 am at Quorn & Woodhouse Great Central Railways Ivatt Class 46521 was involved in a derailment while shunting the traveling post office stock down to Loughborough in preparation for it's mail drop !! And what looks like a joint or points failure has sent the Ivatt class off the rails causing the engine to completely dismount the rails. Fortunately this happened in the sidings and didn't cause to much disruption though services were delayed for a period of time and a trains did continue to run though not to the full timetable which was published. Don't forget to subscribe rate and comment for British steam locomotives.

Railway trip 2018: Leicester to Loughborough
What to do on the kids summer holiday?
When you have a teen passionate about trains&engines, and one into Harry Potter, you can go on the last train line built in the XIX century.
It's been an amazing day for all of us.
Dominic tells us about the history of the line. He chose this activity for us to do this summer holiday.
Rosie thinks it's just like the Hogwarts Express.
I get excited about anything to do with history which also looks pretty.
Adrian remembers his childhood.
Also, meeting the bears of old Leicester train station felt special.
With many thanks for the track:

FIRST DAY OF THE GREAT CENTRAL WINTER STEAM GALA 2020
Friday January 24th was a typical English January day cold, damp but relatively calm. The guest engines at the gala were LNER K1 62005 and Great Western Hall Class 4953 Pitchford Hall. The other locomotives featured here are; Black 5 45305, 6990 Witherslack Hall, 73156 and a glimpse of 46521 warming up for the morrow. Time keeping slipped 10 minutes from the start and by early afternoon, to paraphrase Reginald Perrin, 50 minutes late at Quorn, points failure at Loughborough.

Leicester to Nottingham on the Great Central.
Take a ride on a DMU along the Great Central Railway in the late 1960s. The invaluable record of the line was shot by a supporter of the Great Central Railway when the line was operated by British Railways and shows many locations which today have either been restored or have disappeared. Look out for the crossing of the Midland Main Line bridge just north of Loughborough. This bridge has been rebuilt as part of the reunification project.

Class 769 Test Runs at the Great Central Railway
filmed On Monday 8th October 2018 around Swithland Sidings. 769 Class operating test runs on the Great Central Railway. The Diesel had been fitted with new SkelStart Engines by Brush Traction in Loughborough and is being tested out by the GCR.
It is a good interpretation of what the GCR would look like if it was still operating as a present day mainline.
