Great Cockrow Railway 12/5/2019
Today I visited this fantastic miniature railway near Chertsey in Surrey!
I take two trips, firstly on the longer green route then later on the shorter red route!
This is one of my longer videos but I think it justifies the length, watch a bit and a bit later as I always say!
I thoroughly recommend this Railway, it’s open every Sunday from 1-5pm during the summer!
Enjoy!
Kind Regards
Dave
Great Cockcrow Railway - 50th Anniversary Festival of Steam - 07/07/18
The year 2018 would mark the 50th Anniversary since the 7 1/4 gauge Great Cockrow Railway in Surrey opened its doors to the public, and early July would see the Railway celebrate this occasion with a very special event.
The 7th and 8th of July saw the Railway celebrate 50 years by hosting their biggest Gala yet, with a wide array of attractions running alongside the railway, including visiting traction engines, stationary engines and small children's rides. As many as 15 different visitors would grace the Surrey line, running alongside their strong fleet of home locomotives.
This video captures the action on the 7th of July. We start with Lord Snape reopening the railway, before a re-creation of the very first train out of Hardwick Central, which was hauled by K5 2-6-0 No. 206. This is then followed by the rededication of the Railway's flagship locomotive - Freelance 4-6-2 No. 1947 'Eureka', following a major rebuild that was started in October 2017 and finished just a month before the event.
The video then shows the rest of the running fleet in action along the complex of the railway, including scenes at Hardwick Central, Everglade Junction and Cockrow Hill stations.
My special thanks go to the volunteers of the Great Cockrow Railway, along with the many individuals and organisations involved in making this event a complete success! It's an event that will live long in the memory, and a railway that is thoroughly recommended to visit in the future.

Great Cockcrow Railway (June 2019 Visit) - BLR Visits
On June 2nd, 2019, a couple of the team paid a visit to the Great Cockcrow railway in Chertsey. Quite spur of the moment, some might say, it was interesting to see the railway on a general public running day. Lots of trains, lots of people and lots of fun too!
Be sure to check out our There 'n Back episode to experience a full trip of the GCR green circuit!

The Great Cockcrow Railway | 50th Anniversary - 08.07.18
Over the weekend of 7th and 8th of July, the Great Cockrow Railway, Chertsey, celebrated their 50th Anniversary of running. Including unlimited rides, double heading locomotives, special visits from other preserved railways and museums, the MNPS - owners of 35028 Clan Line, traction locomotives and a funfair, this was to be one of the railways biggest events.
During my time at the railway I took two rides, one of each of the two routes that the railway runs, both lasting between 10 - 15 minutes, filmed the attractions, and all the steam locomotives in action as they passed by taking the huge turnout of people on their rides. A thoroughly brilliant day out in the beautiful sunshine, and my first time in a while actually riding behind a steam engine!
Apologies for slight dodgy filming whilst riding the trains, for most of the rides, I was facing the wrong way and had to hold my camera at a funny angle!

'The Great Cockcrow Railway' - 1/7/18
In this video I visit the Great Cockcrow Railway situated near Chertsey. There were some amazing miniature trains featured within the video! It has 2 routes (red & green) which are both very long which was nice as there were things (especially for kids) to see along the way.
The locomotives were all kept very nice, very friendly staff and comfortable carriages. I would recommend this place to anybody of all ages!

The Great Cockrow Railway Chertsey Surrey Goodbye to Jeffrey
The Cockrow Railway near Chertsey Surrey. This visit was for the children to say Goodbye to Jeffrey their Girraffe, donated to the railway for The Jungle Line.Jeffrey is The King of The Jungle. Three or four lines operate on this railway, you can take a ride on all of them. The Cockrow Railway is in a woodland setting and is a very pleasant place to visit. There is a picnic area, and plenty of space for the children to let off steam. You can get very close to the action, and watch the locomotives being turned on the Turntable and coupling to the trains. A good day out, at minimal cost.

Great Cockcrow Railway Steam Festival 2018
The Great Cockcrow Railway's 50th anniversary spectacular steam festival. One of the best 7.25 inch gauge railways for miles. It's a few years since I've visited, so this spectacular event was the perfect excuse to go.
Great to catch up with Mr Chris Vine - engineer and author of the Peter's Railway books. And it was good to chat with the lovely guys from the MNLPS to find out more about their work, and to admire the 7.25 inch gauge version of Clan Line.
Huge thanks to all at the Great Cockcrow Railway - a great afternoon - and happy 50th!
Tony's last Gladesman
As I understand it, this Gladesman service at the Great Cockcrow Railway was the last with Tony Howker driving his Black 5 loco; so I recorded the final arrival at Hardwick Central for nostalgia!
