A Walk to great gable mountain in the lake district. Great Gable walk can be approached from wasdale head or seathwaite. You can stay at the seathwaite campsite. Car parking at seathwaite for great gable as limited spaces.
Great Gable is a mountain in the Lake District. It is named for its appearance as a pyramid from Wasdale,It is one of the most popular of the Lake district.
This walk starts from seathwaite farm borrowdale. A climbed up to sourmilk gill
Mountain's walked include base brown,green gable,great gable.
The car park is at seathwaite farm and campsite.Great Gable can also be approached from wasdale head.
Great Gable walking distance approximately 8 miles from seathwaite or 9 miles from wasdale.
The views from great gable are fantastic and to the north west are views into Ennerdale and Crummockdale which include Pillar,
Great Gable Sphinx ridge,Westmoreland crag ,great hell gate & wastwater
Looking Stead, Haycock, to the south of Ennerdale and then the Haystacks, High Crag, High Stile and Red Pike ridge to the north
Lake district all range of mountain's.

Lake District Country Walk Great Gable via Green Gable from Honister Slate Mine round
Our video is a guided walk in the Lake District from Honister Slate Mine. We climb up the steep ascent to Grey Knotts then continue to Brandreth and Green Gable. We then make our way down to Windy Gap then scramble up to Great Gable. We return to Windy Gap and return along Moses Trod and the Dismantled Tramway below Fleetwith Pike. This is a hard walk on grassy and rocky paths and tracks. Parts of the inclines and declines are very steep and also require some scrambling. Elevation: Approx lowest point 354.50m (1163ft) approx highest point 898.80m (2948.82ft).Approx 5.5 miles allow 3 - 4 hours using OS Explorer Map OL4, The English Lakes North-western area. Start point: Honister Slate Mine situated at the top of the Honister pass. For more info and facilities please see our website.

A few weeks back while out on a scramble route on the crags on the West side of Great Gable in the Lake District just as I summited I could hear a noise through the wind, it sounded like something was in distress so I went to have a look.

The Classic Route to the summit of Great Gable, Cumbria, UK
Classic Route to the summit of Great Gable, setting out from Wasdale Head via Styhead Pass as far as Kern Knotts, then picking up the front climbers traverse to take in Napes Needle and The Sphinx Rock from The Dress Circle, before proceeding on to Beck Head to pick up the path to the summit, then returning via Styhead Tarn before heading down to Wasdale Head.

A hike to the top of Great Gable from Wasdale in the English Lake District. On this hike we completed two Grade one scrambles and attempted our first Grade two scramble, of which only one of us succeeded. Also including Green Gable and Kirk Fell.

Great Gable & Glaramara, Lake District - 24 November 2018
A 13 mile walk from Seathwaite Farm. The route initially climbs up Taylorgill Force and then continues onto Styhead Tarn before reaching Sty Head Stretcher Box and then join the path towards Napes Needle and Sphinx Rock. The route then climbs the scree to Westmorland Cairn and then the summit of Great Gable. From here the route descends directly towards Sty Head and then on towards Allen Crags. Following the ridge to Glaramara before descending via The Combe and then returning back to Seathwaite Farm.

A glorious day to be out on the fells. We went up from Seathwaite and back down the aptly named Little Hell Gate and back along the Climbers Traverse.
A walk in Cumbria, Wasdale to the Great Gable
nothing special just a walk with great scenery of a walk in Wasdale Cumbria home to Englands deepest lake and highest mountain, this a a walk to Great Gable, which has a war memorial on the top to the fallen soldiers of the First World War. Great Gable is one of Twelve summits given to the National Trust as war memorials.
