Kawartha Voyageur - Ontario Waterway Cruises - Ackert Boat History
The Kawartha Voyageur is more than just a ship, it's a floating country inn. - Captain Marc
The ship is constructed of steel with an overall length of 120 feet. It conforms to Canadian Coast Guard safety regulations, and is licensed by the Federal Department of Transport for passenger service. Diesel generators provide electricity for heating, central air conditioning and lighting with AC 110 volt outlets.
An elevator between the cabin deck and the dining room provides all passengers an opportunity to avoid the stairs between these two levels if so desired. The dining room seats all passengers at one sitting.
The lounge offers comfortable armchairs and large windows. The popular sun deck (with shaded area) provides spectacular viewing and spaciousness to sit back and repose. The foredeck area provides a proximity to the water that many enjoy.
Sleeping cabins are compact, but comfortable, with toilet, sink, twin lower berths and a screened window. The ship is equipped with one cabin to accommodate a person with a walker. The ship is not wheelchair accessible.
Cabin #7 has a lower berth. The single supplement of 75% does not apply to this cabin.

BRUCE PENINSULA NATIONAL PARKS - ONTARIO
......................................................................................
Tobermory is a small community located at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula in Northern Ontario. It's also known as the “Fresh Water Scuba Diving Capital of the World” because of the numerous shipwrecks that lie in the clear blue surrounding waters. The water is also warm since it is so shallow.
Flowerpot Island is part of the Fathom Five National Marine Park. Every person visiting Flowerpot Island must have a valid Parks Canada entry pass.
The name of the island comes from two rock pillars on its eastern shore, which look like flower pots. A third flowerpot once stood but tumbled in 1903. The island is accessible by cruises and rigid inflatable boats from Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula.
The remains of Sweepstakes lie in Big Tub Harbour, located in the Fathom Five National Marine Park, in Tobermory, Ontario. This schooner is said to be one of the most popular wrecks in the park, where it is often visited by tour boat passengers, divers, and snorkelers.
The Shipwreck Sweepstakes- The Disaster - On August 23, 1885, the Sweepstakes hit a rock near Cove Island and sank in shallow water close to the light station. The Wreck Today - The nearly intact hull of the Sweepstakes is in six meters of water, some 45 meters from the head of Big Tub Harbor.
There are few places in the world where one could experience so many well-preserved shipwrecks with such water clarity in such a small geographic footprint. The Fathom Five National National Marine Park at Tobermory alone boasts 22 shipwrecks inside its boundaries.

* How to Get There:-

SUMMARY
=======
The Great Lakes (French: les Grands-Lacs), also called the Laurentian Great Lakes and the Great Lakes of North America, are a series of interconnected freshwater lakes located primarily in the upper mid-east region of North America, on the Canada–United States border, which connect to the Atlantic Ocean through the Saint Lawrence River. They consist of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario, although hydrologically, there are four lakes, Superior, Erie, Ontario, and Michigan-Huron.
The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth by total area, and second largest by total volume, containing 21% of the world's surface fresh water by volume. The total surface is 94,250 square miles (244,106 km2), and the total volume (measured at the low water datum) is 5,439 cubic miles (22,671 km3), slightly less than the volume of Lake Baikal (23,615 km³, 22–23% of the world's surface fresh water). Due to their sea-like characteristics (rolling waves, sustained winds, strong currents, great depths, and distant horizons) the five Great Lakes have also long been referred to as inland seas. Not counting Lake Michigan-Huron, Lake Superior is the second largest lake in the world by area, and the largest freshwater lake by area. Lake Michigan is the largest lake that is entirely within one country.The Great Lakes began to form at the end of the last glacial period around 14,000 years ago, as retreating ice sheets exposed the basins they had carved into the land which then filled with meltwater. The lakes have been a major source for transportation, migration, trade, and fishing, serving as a habitat to a large number of aquatic species in a region with much biodiversity.
The surrounding region is called the Great Lakes region, which includes the Great Lakes Megalopolis.
