Casey's Bar: Whitefish Tour Video
Once a month or so, the most talented painters, dancers, visual experts and DJ's from Missoula, Montana take the 3 hour road trip up to Whitefish and showcase their skill in the best club in the state.
Empire Dance Party is more than just a dance party. It's an expression of art fused with dance. While one mix master is on the decks, another artist is armed with a paintbrush and swirls his or her colors on a large tapestry. It's the perfect combination of visual with audio, coupled with beautiful dancers and B-Boy/B-Girl crews.
Casey's Bar in Whitefish dominates the club culture on so many levels, in fact three of them! The triple story venue is the talk of the local community and is really the only legitimate venue for EDM dance culture in the area. That's why promoters like Logan Foret with the Empire Dance Party is shuttling up some of the finest talent Missoula has to offer. Foret, best know for this BFK events (Disco Bloodbath, Fish Bowl Fridays) hope that this allows the northern part of our state another chance to see why Montana's University town is one to recognize and appreciate.
Here's some footage of an Empire Dance Party from a DJ's perspective.

Midland Wives Club in Whitefish, Montana
We had a reunion.
Ten adults.
Six kids between 8 and 38 months old.
One house.
In Whitefish, Montana.
But first, a rendezvous in Colorado.
And then on to Big Sky Country.
We came from Austin, Texas.
Atlanta, Georgia.
New York. Or Jersey.
Washington, D.C.
and Chicago, Illinois.
The Midland Wives’ Club. Whose progeny doubled since the last get-together.
Plus Audrey and Marcus.
Who hooked us up. Thanks, Great Northern Brewing Company!
And what is a reunion of high school friends without an ice cycle light saber fight?
And big, decadent meals?
And storytelling?

Days 17 & 18 on the Road - WHITEFISH, MT
Woke up in the Whitefish State Park after a long night of trains basically plowing through our site...definitely too close for comfort or sleep. It was $24 for the site, in a pretty area with lake access. We were very appreciative that they gave us change after leaving $30 in our envelope.
We spent two days in Whitefish working at the Montana Coffee Traders, enjoying the town, The Great Northern Brewing Company and Sweet Peaks Ice Cream! Next stop was Spokane, WA but ended up grabbing dinner at Subway 5 minutes before they closed and crashing with friends at a Walmart in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Just gotta roll with it!

Whitefish Skijoring 2011 - Are you ready? Whitefish Winter Carnival 2011
As winter starts to ramp up, so do the horses, riders and skiers, and it is time again for the Whitefish Winter Carnival Ski Joring Event. The revival of ski joring to the Whitefish Winter Carnival will enter its 7th year during the weekend of January 29, 30, 31, 2010, with another exciting year of the interesting mix of two of Montana's favorite sports: horses and skiing.
The Whitefish version of skijoring involves a horse and rider pulling a skier around a horseshoe shaped 800 foot long course at high speeds over jumps and around gates. The sport of skijoring began several hundred years ago in Scandinavian countries as a way to travel during the long winters. Skijoring found its way to North America, where ranchers attached a long rope to the saddle horn of a horse that was ridden at high speeds down a long straight-away. Currently, the sport of equestrian skijoring has become a highly specialized competitive sport, where competitors must navigate a course of jumps, gates and sometime spear rings. (NASJA Website, 2007)
This year's competition will have three divisions: Open division for the most experienced competitors; a Sport division for those who have entered the event more than three times or have won in a previous event, and new this year is the Novice Division which will be for anyone who is entering for the 1st-3rd time and has not won in any division. There will be prizes for each division including cash awards for winners based on the event's entry fee purse. Registration will be January 29th, from 5:30 - 8:30 pm at the Great Northern Brewing Company in Whitefish.
