Great Ocean Road Adventures Part 1 - Great Ocean Road Tourist Park
Host presenters from the popular RV/Lifestyle television show Discover Downunder, Brooke Hanson and Tim Smith, are making memories along the world famous Great Ocean Road which has fantastic holiday destinations, spectacular scenery and tourist attractions. The road has a 243km stretch of highway between Allansford and Torquay in Victoria's South.
Brooke and Tim are checking out the Great Ocean Road Tourist Park located at the western end of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. The park has beautiful scenery and is a great place to fish on the river. Brooke talks to park managers Dean and Sarah Hellessey about what the park has to offer. The park is only 150 metres from the surf beach and is a short walk into town. This park has range of cabins to chose from with fantastic river views and also has unpowered and powered sites. There is a kids playground and camp kitchen which is always popular with families. The park is close to many landmark attractions such as the 12 apostles and gourmet trails which is popular with campers and caravanners alike. Brooke also runs into members of the Macarthur District 4WD club that are staying at the park.
Anglesea, Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia
Anglesea is a story of outdoor adventure. Boogie boards on the whitewash and feet off the pedals. It's about taking on the day and making the most of every minute.
Day 1 - Great Ocean Road | Torquay to Apollo Bay
Today we fly from Brisbane to Melbourne to start 3 days on the Great Ocean Road.
We land in Melbourne and go to pick up a rental car from East Coast Car Rentals. It takes about 1.5 hours from Melbourne to reach the start of the Great Ocean Road in Torquay.
From here we have around 100KM to drive to Apollo Bay with several stops along the way. Technically speaking the Great Ocean Road can be completed in 1 day but we spread it out over 3 so we can take things slow.
In Torquay we make a quick stop at Point Danger before continuing on to Bell's Beach to watch the surfers.
We stop by the Anglesea Golf Course where you can take a kangaroo tour but we are lucky to spot some along the road.
We visit the Split Point Lighthouse in Airey's Inlet and then the Memorial Arch. The Great Ocean Road was actually built by 3,000 returned soldiers from World War I and the entire road is a memorial to the soldiers who lost their lives during the war.
We continue on to Lorne where we have a late lunch at HAH Cafe and stop at Teddy’s lookout on our way out of town.
The section from Lorne to Apollo Bay is supposed to have some of the most beautiful views along the entire drive as it stays right along the coast for nearly 50KM. Every turn just keeps getting better and we pull out at almost all the lookouts along the way.
We make it to our hostel in Apollo Bay and head up to the Mariner's Point look out for the final stop of the day.

Hi! We grew up on opposite ends of the United States in Texas and Ohio. Later in college, we met and got married in August of 2016. As poor newly weds and recent college grads, we moved to New York City to begin what we thought would be our long careers in finance. Only one year later, after accumulating over 2 million miles and points through travel hacking, we booked round-the-world business class tickets to over 40 countries for free. We quit our jobs, sold everything we owned, and began this once-in-a-lifetime adventure on August 27, 2018. Chad has always loved creating home videos to hold onto the memories we share while traveling, so we started this YouTube channel as a place to share our adventures with friends and family. We hope you'll join our journey to exciting countries and experiences around the world!

Bikepacking - Great Ocean Road - Day 3 - Marengo to Anglesea
Day 3 of my Great Ocean Road adventure!!
An awesome day of racing to keep ahead of the rain. I never thought I would be able to make it to Lorne after a gruelling Day 2, much less to Anglesea.
Once step ahead of the clouds, and brunch with King Parrots; it was an amazing adventure, and I would not be against doing it all over again!!

Today we start on our Great Ocean Road adventure starting from Geelong to Port Fairy. The Great Ocean Road is an Australian National Heritage listed 243 kilometres (151 mi) stretch of road along the south-eastern coast of Australia between the Victorian cities of Torquay and Allansford. Along our route we will be visiting some very beautiful beaches, watch kangaroos play golf, watch koalas sleep in trees, and even hunt down a platypus.
We discovered our passion for traveling, beginning with our destination wedding in Jamaica in 2007. This year we decided to leave everything behind with a goal of traveling to 30 countries. We intend to record our experiences with a day in the life vlog, with the hopes of inspiring others to get out and see the world! GREAT OCEAN ROAD DRIVE VLOG (DAY 1) - SHE SAW HER FIRST KANGAROO! | 26-02-2019
Hey Everyone! Join Robyn and I on Day 1 of our Great Ocean Road drive adventure where we will take you on a road trip of a lifetime.
In this video, we begin by hiring a car and driving from Melbourne to Torquay- the official beginning of the Great Ocean Road. At Torquay, we will quickly show you the Surf Museum, followed by getting fish and chips at Fisho's. We then make our way to the famous Bells Beach, before continuing our coastal adventure to spot wild kangaroos!
Robyn has never seen kangaroos in her life so I decided to find out where they hang out and luckily for her, we found them! I will mark it on the map so you'll know where you can find wild kangaroos (Eastern Grey) along the Great Ocean Road (without paying alot of money to some tour company!)
After the Anglesea Golf Club (for kangaroos), we continue our drive before stopping at Aireys Inlet to see the famous Split lighthouse. This lighthouse was the prop used in an old TV show I used to watch called Round the Twist (Google it!)
Afterwards, we continue on to Lorne where we check into our room at the Lorne Bay View motel. We have booked 2 nights here :-) At night, we eat at Chopstix before closing off to begin Day 2 of our Great Ocean Road adventure!
On Day 2, we continue to the 12 Apostles and hire a helicopter to fly over them and along the coastline. The video is sensational :-)
If you are planning a coastal adventure, let me know in the comments!

The Great Ocean Road - We are back on the Mainland - E16
And just like that we are off the boat and back on the mainland.
Tasmania was amazing but we are very excited to be starting our western leg of the trip. We start off by getting a few jobs ticked off while we are in Melbourne. The first of this being new suspension in the mighty hilux!
From here we make our way towards the Great Ocean Road. We camp near by and the next morning start the trip until we are stopped baby a flat battery. An absolute legend starts us going again and we are off checking out points of interest until we make our way to Apollo Bay.
We stay in Apollo Bay on the advice of the local law enforcement and the next morning kayak with seals.
From here we continue to make our way to the twelve apostles where we set up camp to prepare for a sunrise wake up the following morning.
We hope you all enjoyed this video and thank you all so much for watching! If you are new here please subscribe and hit that thumbs up button as it really helps us out.

Twelve Apostoles and Waterfalls at Great Ocean Road
The spectacular Great Ocean Road winds alongside the wild and windswept Southern Ocean. Home to craggy cliffs, empty beaches and bountiful wildlife, there's an effortless affinity with nature along this iconic road. And with epic surf and unforgettable hikes, you'll find plenty of adventure around every corner.
The Great Ocean Road begins a 90-minute drive from Melbourne's city centre. It spans 400 kilometres (249 miles) from the town of Torquay to Nelson on the South Australian border.
Victoria's dramatic south-west coastline covers an incredible range of scenery. See the world-famous waves at Bells Beach or laze on the sand at Anglesea. Visit the charming old fishing village of Port Fairy and get among the buzzing arts community in Lorne. Of course, you can't miss the 12 Apostles. These craggy limestone stacks rising majestically from the Southern Ocean are a must-see. Join a scenic flight with 12 Apostles Helicopters to see the Bay of Islands, London Bridge or the entire Shipwreck Coast all the way to Australia's oldest lighthouse at Cape Otway.
Beauchamp Falls crashes over a ledge into a large pool just outside Beech Forest, this 20-metre waterfall rewards a somewhat strenuous walk. To get to the falls, take the walking path from the picnic area, located off the Aire Valley Road. The three-kilometre path is an hour's walk return, and requires reasonable fitness. The descent to the falls leads to a viewing platform (there is no access to the falls). The path back is steep and has steps that can be slippery when wet. Take care when walking in damp conditions.
