Chiba Naritasan Shinshoji Temple - 成田山 - 4K Ultra HD
Chiba Naritasan Shinshoji Temple - 成田山 : Founded in 940 by Kanchō Daisōjō, a disciple of Kōbō Daishi, Naritasan (Narita-san) Shinshoji (Shinsho-ji) is a Shingon Buddhist temple located in central Narita, and near Narita airport.
Despite its age, Naritasan remained a remote and humble temple until Tokugawa Ieyasu (徳川 家康) moved his capital to Edo in 1603. Only then did Naritasan Shinshoji, both in fame and size, start to grow. As for today, the temple features many different buildings including the gorgeous two-storey Great Pagoda of Peace located far behind the main hall, as well as a colorful and more traditional three storey pagoda adjacent to the great main hall. Located a short walk from the great main hall you will find the Shakado Hall, Gakudo Hall (under renovation when this video was shot), the Komyodo Hall and even a museum dedicated to Japanese calligraphy!

Naritasan Shinsho-ji (成田山新勝寺)Temple, Narita, Near Tokyo, Japan
Naritasan Shinsho-ji (成田山新勝寺) Temple is located in Narita, near Tokyo, Japan. Narita is part of Chiba prefecture and the Tokyo International Airport is in Narita.
Naritasan Temple belongs to the Shingon Buddhist sect that was founded by the revered priest Kobo Daishi (Kukai). The temple itself was founded by Head Priest Kancho Daisojo in 940 A.D. The principal deity is called Fudomyo-o (Acalantha). The temple garden contains bronze statues of the disciples of the principal deity.
Naritasan temple is a very large temple with sprawling temple grounds and many auxiliary buildings and temples, some are very older than the main Hondo. The Hondo itself is a newer construction but the other buildings in the precincts like Komyo-do Hall, Shaka-do Hall and Gaku-do Hall are very old and designated as Important Cultural Properties by the Japanese government.
I urge, foreign travelers to eastern Japan, not to miss visiting this temple because it is closer to Tokyo and indeed a very beautiful temple.

Japan Trip (2017) - Chapter 2: Narita (Naritasan Temple!)
I have finally arrived in Japan! My first stop is in one of the most overlooked cities in the Chiba prefecture: Narita.
Just 15 minutes away from Narita Airport by train, Narita-shi is home to one of the oldest buddhist temple: Naritasan. The temple still contains structures that were constructed during the early 18th century! Compared to the temples found in Tokyo, this one is usually not very crowded and it is a lot easier to get around.
Narita also has this one street where you can find a lot of street vendors and people walking around! It is a more traditional feel and atmosphere compared to the big cities.
Please enjoy this vlog where I show you some of the great things about the region! Next stop: Tokyo Game Show!

SENSO-JI TEMPLE
Sensō-ji (金龍山浅草寺 Kinryū-zan Sensō-ji) is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. It is Tokyo's oldest temple, and one of its most significant. Formerly associated with the Tendai sect of Buddhism, it became independent after World War II. Adjacent to the temple is a five-storey pagoda, Shinto shrine, the Asakusa Shrine, as well as many shops with traditional goods in the Nakamise-dōri
The Sensoji Kannon temple is dedicated to Guanyin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, and is the most widely visited spiritual site in the world with over 30 million visitors annually.
It ranks among the top 10 temples in Japan for the number of visitors in the new year.
The temple is dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon (Avalokiteśvara). According to legend, a statue of the Kannon was found in the Sumida River in 628 by two fishermen, the brothers Hinokuma Hamanari and Hinokuma Takenari. The chief of their village, Hajino Nakamoto, recognized the sanctity of the statue and enshrined it by remodeling his own house into a small temple in Asakusa so that the villagers could worship Kannon.
The Nishinomiya Inari shrine is located within the precincts of Sensō-ji and a torii identifies the entry into the hallowed ground of the shrine. A bronze plaque on the gateway structure lists those who contributed to the construction of the torii, which was erected in 1727 (Kyōhō 12, 11th month).
During World War II, the temple was bombed and destroyed. It was rebuilt later and is a symbol of rebirth and peace to the Japanese people. In the courtyard there is a tree that was hit by a bomb in the air raids, and it had regrown in the husk of the old tree and is a similar symbol to the temple itself.
THE KAMINARIMON
The Kaminarimon (雷門 Thunder Gate) is the outer of two large entrance gates that ultimately leads to the Sensō-ji (the inner being the Hōzōmon) in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. The gate, with its lantern and statues, is popular with tourists. It stands 11.7 m tall, 11.4 m wide and covers an area of 69.3 m2. The first gate was built in 941, but the current gate dates from 1960, after the previous gate was destroyed in a fire in 1865.
NAKAMISE-DORI
The Nakamise-dōri (仲見世通り) is a street on the approach to the temple. It is said to have come about in the early 18th century, when neighbors of Sensō-ji were granted permission to set up shops on the approach to the temple. However, in May 1885 the government of Tokyo ordered all shop owners to leave. In December of that same year the area was reconstructed in Western-style brick. During the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake many of the shops were destroyed, then rebuilt in 1925 using concrete, only to be destroyed again during the bombings of World War II.
The length of the street is approximately 250 meters and contains around 89 shops.

Stay Here - Naritasan Shinshoji Temple
Naritasan Shinshoji temple has an interesting story about its origin, which attracts so many people even today to the temple.
JAPAN BY TRAIN: Osaka - Gokurakubashi - Koyasan [HD] (05/Jan/2014)
Video footage recorded during my trip all over Japan between December 27th 2013 and January 10th 2014.
This clip includes images of the trip between the Shin·Imamiya (in Osaka) and Koyasan sations, in the non-JR Nankai railway.
The beaufitul and peaceful town of Koyasan was settled in year 819 by monk Kukai as a place for spiritual retirement, and which amazed me not only for the beauty its temples, pagodas and streets but also for its large mausoleum all along the forest, which is worth a walk to enjoy it (little of all this appears on the video, as I took pictures instead).
Getting there from Osaka requires transferring to the cable car at the Gokurakubashi station, and to the local bus service at the Koyasan station, located some minutes away from the actual town.
The first shots of the video were taken at the park that surrounds the beautiful castle of Osaka, near the Osakajokoen station (whose name means Park of the Osaka Castle).
(Please note that these videos do not intend to show the tourist attractions at the cities I stop at, but the journey itself, particularly the train routes. For castles, monuments or colourful streets I usually preferred taking photographs... Sorry for that!)
