The Great Wall of China: Hiking & Camping!
The two days we spent exploring remote portions of The Great Wall were some of the most awe-inspiring, challenging and beautiful days of our 21 days in China! We started day one on the Jiankou portion of the wall and then to the Huanghuacheng that night. We hiked in the dark and set up a tent to camp on the wall, waking up the next morning to gorgeous songs of bugs and wind passing through the mist the next morning. After packing up the camp site, we hiked the Huanghuacheng section for the rest of the day. I highly recommend visiting these gorgeous pieces of the wall and experiencing history far from tourists. It's truly unforgettable.

Which Section of the GREAT WALL OF CHINA Should You Visit? | Abandoned or Restored
Which Section of the Great Wall of China should you visit? This was probably the biggest question we had before travelling to China. Mutianyu? Badaling? Jinshanling? Or how about off the beaten path at the Great Wall Fresh Homestay? - This film aims to determine once and for all, which is the best section of the Great Wall to visit.
I'm trying something a little different with this film - it's longer and more documentary style. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Best Way to See the Great Wall!
Poppy and I avoided the crowded, touristy areas of the wall and instead stayed with a local couple. Here, you can see the wall stretching into the distance for miles and miles and miles - with absolutely no one in sight - just me, Poppy, and our guide.
What an incredible experience! I hope that some of you guys can visit!

CAMPING ON THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA & BEIJING CITY TOUR! | Backpacking China Vlog 3
Did you know you can camp on The Great Wall of China?? Well you can with The Dragon Trip and this is exactly what we did! And not only did we camp on the great wall but we stayed on a disused part and didn’t see any other tourists!
We took a bus 2 hours from Beijing to the Great Wall of China, we had to walk nearly 1 hour up hill to the wall with our camping equipment which was hard work and it didn’t help that it was pouring with rain too!
We set up our tents next to The Great Wall of China and were then able to walk along it and watch an amazing sunset from the great wall.
Following a damp, cold and uncomfortable night we woke up to an amazing sunrise on The Great Wall of China. It was truly an amazing and huge bucket list experience.
After a 2 hour journey back to Beijing we spent the next 2 days in Beijing seeing as many of Beijing's attractions as possible including the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Friends Cafe in Beijing!

HIKE TO MUTIANYU GREAT WALL OF CHINA W/ A BABY | BEIJING TRIP | TOUR COMPANY RECOMMENDATION
Welcome to Expat J&G, we are currently living and teaching in China, and this video is all about our trip to the Great Wall of China. It's winter break here and mom came from the Philippines to spend time with us and, especially, her grandson - our son, James Alex. One of mom's dreams was to go to the Great Wall, so during her visit we took a trip to Beijing. We stayed at the RJ Brown Happy Dragon Hotel, which had a tour package to visit different areas of the Wall. We went to the Mutianyu area; our tour package was 280 RMB/person and was inclusive of breakfast, lunch, transportation to and from the Great Wall and entry ticket. We paid extra for the cable cars (120 RMB/person). The cable cars gave us an introductory look at the beauty we were to see on the Wall itself.
Temps were around -8 Celsius so it was freezing, but the trek was worth it. The Mutianyu area of the Wall consists of a stretch of wall with 7 watch towers, numbered 14-20. Other areas have other numberings. The entire trek is loaded with spectacular views of the valley below and, around the mid-point, the wall stretching out behind and in front. It truly is an amazing sight! Getting to watch tower 20 takes some endurance as the road on the Wall twists, turns, goes up and down… and is littered with stairs. The final stretch requires climbing a large number of steps up to the summit of this portion of Wall.

The Great Wall Of China!!-Beijing-Travel Man Dan
#travelmandan #GreatWallofChina #ChineseNewYear2019
First I would like to wish all my Friends in China, and the Chinese people around the world a very HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!
May you all have the best in HEALTH, HAPPINESS and PROSPERITY! This episode is very symbolic to me and the country of China because during CNY in today's adventure I travel to THE GREAT WALL!!
In this episode of Travel Man Dan I am having a great time exploring one of the less populated areas of the Great Wall and Im fascinated at the beauty of this massive man made structure!
This video was shot to help people see what the wall looks like and to give them a glimpse of a remote section of the Great Wall!
I have been to several parts of the Wall and each one is very impressive in the size, engineering and overall spectacle of this amazing wonder.
This episode was so much fun to film! Because I was able to grab a friend of mine, BIG DOG???????? and his drone and shoot some really cool ariel shots of this magnificent wall. Also this part of the wall is a little more secluded and not to many people walking around on it. And we even got a secret tip to how to get here from a very kind local women selling fruits on the roadside.
In this episode you'll see how unique and impressive the guard towers are, and learn some interesting facts about the wall. I have always wanted to see the Great Wall of China and although I have been a few times each visit was different and just as wonderful. Plus I even got the chance to get some working out done on the wall, I get in a short jog and some body weight exercises for fun. The Chinese people are very accommodating and extremely friendly when helping travelers-and the few people we met on the wall were so kind and friendly and the feeling of the day was amazing!
China will always be a part of my life, as once you live in an country it becomes very familiar and always brings a smile to my face when I think of the past and how much fun I had living here! I will miss China but I know Ill always return and I am looking forward to new adventures around the world. I do my best to document my VLOGS as true to myself and how I see things around the world, and here in China. The Great Wall is an absolute stunning sight to see and I suggest once in your life make the trip and see it for yourself!
Below is a link that you can read up on to gain more knowledge of the high speed train to BJ and from SH. I also added important info about traveling in China that you may find useful. Best Great Wall tour from Beijing
If you only have 1 day and only choose 1 place to go, which is the best part of the Great Wall you should go to visit?
Great Wall of China - Hiking in Winter
Great Wall of China - Hiking in Winter
Hiked 3 sections of the Great Wall in winter. We did it without any guides after studying blogs and posts by fellow hikers. All these sections are different. From the unrestored Gubeikou Great Wall where we were the only people around, to the wonderful Jinshanling Great Wall where the climb is steep and every direction gives you good photo opportunities, to the restored Mutianyu Great Wall where we hiked in heavy snowfall.
Stayed at local farmhouses on both nights. Ate local meals and hitched rides to nearby bath houses because the homes have no bathrooms! Temperature ranged from -5 deg C (day) to -12 deg C (night). Winter daybreak is at 7am. Sky becomes dark by 5pm. You have only 10 hrs of daylight, so plan your travelling and hiking schedules carefully!!
This once-in-a-lifetime experience was captured on video and we would like to share it with you. The feelings just can't be described. You need to experience it first hand.

TRAVEL VLOG: Sliding down THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA | Beijing Mu Tian Yu
No doubt the best class trip I've ever been on! We head to Mu Tian Yu in Beijing to visit a section of the Great Wall of China. After a steep but easy hike, we explore a small part of the Great Wall and take a slide down!
Two hours from Beijing, Mu Tian Yu is a popular section of the Great Wall for tourists. You can take a chair lift up to the Great Wall, or challenge yourself by walking up the steep stairs. The slide down cost 100RMB and was extremely worth it!
Thanks for watching, liking, and commenting.
Travelling to The Great Wall of China | Leo Hostel Secret Wall Tour | Beijing.
Taking a break from our teaching life, Apartment #1003 took a quick trip from Wuhan to Beijing to hike The Great Wall also known as The Long Wall, through the Leo Hostel Tour. Take a read for my experience plus some tips!
The first day was filled with exploring the city, bike riding, exploring Tian'anmen Square and indulging in food at The Cheese Cake Factory.
The second day, we had booked a tour through our hostel, The Leo Hostel, for their 'Secret Great Wall Tour'. The cost was 300 RMB inclusive of transport, and lunch. The tour seemed to be offered for other travellers who were not staying at the Leo Hostel too!
The tour started at 7.25am, but we only hit the road just before 8am. Enjoy a nap on the private bus, until you arrive to the Ancient Badaling Wall. The tour allows you 3 hours to hike 7 watch towers, to return at the meeting spot for around 1.30pm. Please note, no actual tour guide or representative of the Hostel hikes with you.
There was literally noone on the wall except for us! All our photos and views were free from other tourists, and everything was quiet.
This hike was quiet difficult, with extreme inclines, and some sections being slippery surfaces. Please don't be a wally and wear comfortable running shoes.
We did this hike on Septemeber 2nd, and it was blue skies of 34 degrees. Bring a minimum of 1.5 Litres of water and a hat and sunblock. It was very hot and made the hike slightly more difficult.
After the hike, you get your fresh Chinese lunch, and then get back on the bus to go back to the Hostel for around 5pm.
If you are looking for a fun, challenging and more importantly tourist free tour...100% would recommend this tour.
Later that evening, we visited the area of Chaoyang District, more specifically the Sanlitun Courtyard to a place called The Taco Bar. If you are looking for a cool, hip and friendly environment to have a GOOD meal, check it out. The area is fresh, and the food was one of the best meals we have had since living in China.

20 ???????? Hiking on the Great Wall of China (Mutianyu) in Beijing (Cinematic China Travel) 北京 Пекин
A perfect day in Beijing! Starting the day with traditional Northern Chinese breakfast in Mao'er Hutong near Houhai area, where it is centrally located in the heart of old city. Embracing the sunrise in all Hutongs (narrow streets) around the area observing people started the day on their bicycles.
There's one direct bus from Dongzhimenwai (east of Dongzhimen subway station) can take you there before 8:30am in the morning direct to Mutianyu Great Wall, a section of the Great Wall is well maintained with great view for hiking.
Hiking on the Great Wall on a beautiful day was absolutely a life-time experience of both history and nature. The Great Wall of China is the collective name of a series of fortification systems generally built across the historical northern borders of China to protect and consolidate territories of Chinese states and empires against various nomadic groups of the steppe and their polities. Several walls were being built from as early as the 7th century BC by ancient Chinese states. Despite its original function, the current usage of the Wall is perfect for hiking across the mountainous region since the wall is built along the ridges of the mountains. Be prepared to have enough water with you since it might be hot / dry on the wall with limited supply! There are watching towers you can use to rest among different sections, they were used to send signals by lighting the fires historically by soldiers.
Returning from Great Wall around 4-5pm in the afternoon, do head to Jingshan Park (located in the northern side of Forbidden City in the center of the town). The hill in the Jingshan Park is the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset as well as overlooking the Forbidden City, the old city and the new skyline outside of the city (East Bound).

Great Wall China hiking off the beaten path
A beautiful tour we took of the Great Wall of China while we were visiting Beijing. We hired a local guide who took us to some less visited places along the wall. It was very beautiful, not many tourists and much of the wall was in its natural state. A truly magnificent sight if you plan to visit the Great Wall.
