As an innovative program, Citizenship 101 is comprised of: interactive sessions, a mentorship program, learning tours, discussions, a website and social media presence.

At 11:00am on Friday, September 7th, the CUPE Local 410 workers of the Greater Victoria Public Library (Victoria, BC, Canada) made their first action to strike.
They had been in an official and legal
position to strike since 8:00am that morning, but chose to only close their doors for a three hour period during the middle of the day.

Community-Inspired Library — CREATE
Library Service Inspired by You!
We are proud to share our new strategic plan, which will guide GVPL for the next five years.
This video explores the first of four key priorities — CREATE. We aim to create library spaces to meet unique user needs — in person and through our multiple e-service channels.
Our four priorities were developed with you, our library members, in mind. As part of the planning process, we defined our unique role in Greater Victoria, what we believe as a library system, and what we aspire to achieve for our community.
We strive to offer you programs and services that enrich your lives and support you as lifelong learners. We listened carefully during the public engagement process and incorporated your ideas and suggestions to make a great library system even better.
As you learn about our future plans, we invite you to share your feedback by emailing inspirethefuture@gvpl.ca and let us know how GVPL inspires your future.
Thank you for sharing the excitement with us.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Chief Justice Warren - Welcome to the Supreme Court's website
The Supreme Court of Victoria has moderninised its website and is embracing social media to provide greater information for the community and legal practitioners.
The new website, launched in June 2014, provides information about our judges, day-to-day information about where cases are listed, cases that are being heard, and cases that have been decided.
Judges decisions, the reasons for their sentences, will be available on the website. Some will be streamed with either audio or video footage of why a judge has decided a case the way they have. This is an important part of achieving accountability and transparency of the judiciary. It is important for the Court to share information about what is happening in the Supreme Court, and the Court's decisions, to provide confidence in the public in what the Court does.
