Marathon in Greece - Brief Video Tour (Marathonas, Greece)
So we decided to take a trip to visit Marathon on our last day in Greece. Surprisingly, there isn't a great deal to do besides visiting the Marathon Running Museum and the Battle of Marathon Athenian Burial Tomb. They also have the classic marathon course set up with mile markers all the way into Athens, so that was a nice hidden surprise!
Marathon (Demotic Greek: Μαραθώνας, Marathónas; Attic/Katharevousa: Μαραθών, Marathṓn) is a town in Greece, the site of the battle of Marathon in 490 BC, in which the heavily outnumbered Athenian army defeated the Persians. The tumulus or burial mound (Greek Τύμβος, tymbos, tomb) of the 192 Athenian dead, also called the Soros, which was erected near the battlefield, remains a feature of the coastal plain. The Tymbos is now marked by a marble memorial stele and surrounded by a small park.

DJI Phantom Vision 2+, Marathon Dam, Marathon, Greece
I took a short trip along with a friend to the Marathon Dam and this is random footage I shot.
I don't know the reason why but the video reception was awful and couldn't see where I was flying. Most of the piloting was done visually, thus I am not satisfied with the the end result.

DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ , Port of Drapetsona, Piraeus, Greece
It was time to test the drone camera capabilities during the night. This area is close to Piraeus, the largest port in Greece, and is part of the city of Piraeus.
Considering that it's getting dark and that it was a little gloomy, I thought the music was quite appropriate. Besides... it's summer and things slow down :)

GREECE, EXPLORING the 2004 Olympic Games Stadium in ATHENS (by Santiago Calatrava) ????️
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go inside the famous 2004 Olympic Games Stadium in Athens and let's admire its architecture.
The Olympic Stadium of Athens Spyros Louis (Greek: Ολυμπιακό Στάδιο Αθηνών Σπύρος Λούης, Olympiakó Stádio Athinon Spyros Louis) is a sports stadium in Athens, Greece. It is a part of the Athens Olympic Sports Complex and is named after the first modern Olympic marathon gold medalist in 1896, Spyros Louis. The stadium hosts two of the biggest sport clubs in Greece, Panathinaikos and AEK Athens. The stadium served as the main stadium during the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. The Acropolis Museum, along with the National Archaeological Museum, preserves sculptures, vases, jewelry and more from Ancient Greece.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

Schinias National Reserve | Marathon
Apart from the once-in-a-lifetime experience of roaming the actual grounds of the Battle of Marathon, the coexistence of different ecosystems ensures that visitors get the unique chance to admire biodiversity in all its magnificence. The pine forest on the dunes between the wetland and the sea; the junipers and rare endemic flowers on the almost virgin peninsula of Kynosoura; the ponds formed by the Makaria spring; the endangered bird species nesting among the reeds in the flooding marshes of the wetland; the orchid and water birds of the Lake Stromi; and the underwater meadows of Posidonia in the bay of Schinias are only some of the highlights. And, even though a pilgrimage to such marvels is a standalone reason for visiting the site, activities around the reserve also include bird watching, swimming, and water sports.

Athens Riviera - The Coast of Athens
The Coast of Athens
Athens Riviera
In the last few years more tourists have discovered the southeast coast of Athens, and many were delighted to find that they could stay right on, or within easy walking distance of the sea and still have access to the Acropolis and the museums and archaeology sites of the city by public transport.
With the opening of the coastal tram and the continuation of the Athens Metro all the way to Glyfada, the towns of the Athens Gold Coast, or the Athenian Riviera, specifically Glyfada, Voula and Faliron, have seen an influx of foreign travelers. And why not? All these towns are really extensions of Athens with shops, restaurants, cafes and the one thing that central Athens does not have: the Aegean Sea.
Vouliagmeni is famous for a wooded area with two small peninsulas, Kavouri and Lemos, which have some very nice pay beaches, a couple decent free beaches, some nice swimming areas off the rocks (if you are a good swimmer) and some of the most beautiful resort hotels on the mainland.

The Acropolis , Panathenaic Stadium , Lycabettus Hill in Athens Greece 23-10-2019
The Acropolis of Athens and the nearby New Acropolis Museum are the places every visitor to the city should go to. Sitting on top of the Acropolis hill and dedicated to goddess Athens is the temple of Parthenon. Not only a symbol for the city, but for the whole Greek civilization as well
The Panathenaic stadium was built around 330 BC and it was where ancient Athens’ Panathenaic Games were celebrated. After being left abandoned for centuries, it was refurbished in late 19th century using Penteli marble, the same as the one used on the Acropolis. It hosted the first Olympic Games of the modern era as well as the first marathon race in 1896.

DJI Phantom 2 Vision+, Rhamnous, Greece
The site of Rhamnous (also Ramnous or Rhamnus) was an ancient Greek city in Attica situated on the coast, overlooking the Euboean Strait. Its ruins are found just about an hour drive from Athens.
In the early 5th BCE, a small sanctuary was built to both the goddesses Themis and Nemesis. This may show that Themis was originally venerated here in conjunction with Nemesis: one the personification of Right Order and the other the avenger of Order's transgressors.
The cult of Nemesis at Rhamnous came to a formal end with the decree of the Byzantine emperor Arcadius in 382 CE that ordered the destruction of any surviving polytheist temples in the Greek countryside.

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are few places that I just simply didn't enjoy.
The country of Brunei is one of them.
I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I was pushed to make this video.
Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.
