ROMANIA: The beautiful MONUMENTS of BUCHAREST'S BELLU CEMETERY ????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit Bellu Cemetery which is the largest cemetery in Bucharest and one of the best known in all of Romania. It is spread over a large area of land near Tineretului Park and was founded on the site donated to the city by Barbu Bellu in 1853, hence its name. Bellu Cemetery is a museum of monuments of the 19th-century Romanian mortuary architecture and it’s worth a visit if you happen to spend some time in Bucharest. Especially if you like spooky places and stories from the past, then this is the right place for a short visit. The cemetery is full of monuments that are meant to tell the stories of those who found their final resting place here. From tragic love stories to monuments dedicated to some of the most important Romanian writers and artists, if you take the time, you can learn something new with each step you take.
Romania is a southeastern European country known for the forested region of Transylvania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains. Its preserved medieval towns include Sighişoara, and there are many fortified churches and castles, notably clifftop Bran Castle, long associated with the Dracula legend. Bucharest, the country’s capital, is the site of the gigantic, Communist-era Palatul Parlamentului government building.

Travel Romania: Maramureș travel documentary | Visiting Botiza
Traveling to Maramures in Romania! A region where you almost feel like going back in time. But what to do and what to see here? :) That's what we'l tell you in this video!

--MARAMURES WHAT TO DO—
We stayed in Botiza from where we did the following:
► Visit the Merry Cemetery close to the Ukrainian boarder. It’s a busy place with a lot of tourists, but it’s definitely worth seeing!
► Visit Bârsana Monastery on top of the hill. Also note that the old church is not on the ground anymore as I explained in the video! You’ll need to drive to an other spot to find it.
► Look up the wooden churches on the map, and just visit some of them. Also the ones not on the world heritage list are very beautiful! Call the number on the church to watch inside, if you’re lucky there’s a guide, sometimes English speaking.
► Hike, the surroundings are beautiful! And with the hills not being too steep it’s a pleasure walking here.
--WHERE TO SLEEP BOTIZA, MARAMURES--
We stayed in Pensiunea Sidau Parasca. Which was a great place! Very friendly people, good bed and good (local) food. We got great breakfasts and dinners! The hosts don’t speak much English.
Also George Iurca was recommended online, since he knows a lot about history as well!
--WHERE TO EAT BOTIZA, MARAMURES--
Since we only ate at the house we stayed in, we didn’t experience much outside. And also I do remember there were not a lot of restaurants from what I saw.
--TRANSPORTATION—
► We had our own car to go around which I would highly recommend. Lots of places are in rural area’s so it’s very convenient to have your own kind of transport here.

Transylvanian Cauliflower Casserole with Cheese
Wave Hello to Dracula while you eat this favorite from his hometown. Steamed cauliflower is then enrobed in bacon, onion, and a cheesy topping. What's not to love? Oh, maybe the garlic -- but only if you're a vampire.
Romanian Stuffed Cabbage Leaves (Sarmale)
Having a big group of people over for dinner? What about a potluck? This recipe easily makes 16 large sarmale and many more if shaped small. Inside of each cabbage leaf is a mixture of ground pork, carrot, onion, and bacon slow cooked in a tomato sauce broth all afternoon. The end result? Incredibly tender and totally irresistible. P.S. If it's a Halloween party, called them mini mummies!
Romanian Easter Bread | Pasca
A large loaf of beautiful sweet bread infused with the delicate, sunny aroma of lemon zest and filled with a sweet cheese filling. Think giant cheese danish. Think Sunday brunch. Think happy Romanian thoughts. (sorry, nothing scary here, folks!)

Romania Countryside Experience
Not too long ago, the Holy Smithereens team flew to Bucharest in Romania. We wanted a unique rural experience, so from Bucharest we drove to Pestera, about a 3 hour drive east of Bucharest. Thanks to Dan Chitila of Outdoor Activities in Romania, we were able to have this unique farmstay experience in Casa Folea.

The Perfect City Break In Europe | Bucharest with The Life Of Jord
Jordan Simon's was just in Bucharest and has filmed his day giving us a glimpse into Bucharest and why he thinks it's the perfect place for a city break in Europe. With it's gorgeous old buildings, picturesque streets and night life it has so much to offer.
One of the great things about Bucharest is that even in the most touristy spots in the city prices are still reasonable.
If you like hot weather Bucharest will be perfect for you. At the beginning of August it was 37 degrees for Jord so if you like sun sun sun there is another great reason to come to Bucharest!
Wandering around Bucharest old town at 11:00 AM it is fairly quiet but later on it will be full of bars and full of people.
Another great reason to visit Bucharest is it is fairly cheap to get there for the weekend. Flights from anywhere in Europe are about €40.00 - €50.00 Euros.
The streets fill up as the sun goes down and all bars and restaurants open up. Grab dinner at a bar and then head to the streets where there is dancing and partying until the early hours of the morning.
Check out The Life Of Jord on YouTube for adventure videos, vlogs and to follow along on his travels!
