KISH ISLAND, often called the Pearl of the Persian Gulf has an area of 91.5 square km (36 sq. miles).Kish Island has relaxed laws in comparison to the rest of Iran.

No entry visa is required for Kish. Foreign nationals need no entry visa at the authorised arrival and departure points in Kish Island. At Kish International Airport, the officials will take your photograph, fingerprints, and stamp your passport, allowing you to stay up to 14 days on the Island. If you are western, you may be asked about the purpose of your visit. Make sure you bring all verification paperwork including hotel reservations with phone numbers, etc.

The rules for British and American passport holders have recently been tightened following mid 2019 political instability. If this applies to you, then you are still eligible for the 14 day entry stamp on the following conditions, and may be denied entry and detained until the next return flight: You must arrange for a certified escort/guide, through an Iranian travel agent. The Travel Agent must inform the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about your visit at least 2 weeks in advance of travel. Your guide must pass a copy of the hotel reservation confirmation to the Immigration Office at Kish Airport at least 48 hours before your arrival, and meet you at the airport upon your arrival.

Upon arrival at Kish Airport, all female passengers will be wear headscarves and appropriate clothing. The clothing is available at the Airport, and passengers are expected to return them when leaving Kish.
The staff in general are polite, but they speak little English. So learn at least some Persian phrases.

At present, there are a number of international airlines flying to Kish International Airport (IATA: KIH). The most popular airline with the most regular domestic and international flights in Kish is Kish Air. Kish Air has international flights to Dubai. Kish Air also offers domestic flights to Iran's main cities, including Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz and Mashhad.

Architecture Observes EP4 Shiraz Iran The Tomb of Saadi

Tomb of Saadi is one of the tourist attractions of Shiraz city. Saadi is one of the great Iranian poets who has many lovers, and his words have been quoted by Persian speaking people inside Iran and outside alike. Even Western sources have quoted him and continue to do so.

The mausoleum of this great poet, like other poets of this city, is a beautiful example of unique Persian gardens. The grave is inside an octagonal edifice on top of which stands an fantastic azure blue dome and inside the mausoleum all around the walls are inscribed with verses of Saadi’s poems. Inside the mausoleum yard and in front of the entrance of the tomb lies a beautiful pond. People throw coins into the pond so that their wishes would come true.

An Iranian official said the country’s nuclear power plant near the southern port city of Bushehr has been shut down for periodic maintenance and fuel reloading, and will be reconnected to the national grid in a couple of weeks.

In comments on Sunday, Hossein Ghaffari حسين غفاري, an official at the Bushehr nuclear plant, said the power plant has been shut down for an overhaul operation after generating electricity for 298 days.

He said the plant will resume supplying electricity to the national grid in late April or early May.

The official noted that a third of the plant’s fuel packs will be replaced during the outage period and the periodic repair and maintenance operations and safety measures will be carried out.

Ghaffari announced in January that the Bushehr nuclear power plant had supplied around 5.5 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity to the national grid over the previous eight months.

He said the plant generated a record amount of 7.4 billion kWh of electricity in the previous Iranian year (March 2017 - March 2018), more than 90 percent of which was supplied to the national grid.

In September 2013, Iran took temporary control of its Bushehr nuclear power plant.

Russia has agreed to provide the power plant’s fuel for 10 years, with the supply deal committing Tehran to returning the spent fuel.

The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant became officially operational and was connected to Iran’s national grid in September 2011.
