Greencastle Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course nestled in the rolling hills of south central Pennsylvania. The Greencastle Golf Club is located 3.5 miles from Interstate 81 and 15 miles from Interstate 70, making the course easily accessible to golfers from Hagerstown, Chambersburg, Shippensburg, and even Frederick, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.
The club is semi-private located in a 180-home, affluent neighborhood with more homes springing up in the coming years. The course offers a challenging layout, beautiful views of rolling terrain, and several ponds and wetlands. The property includes a Golf Shop, practice facilities, and offers dining and drinks at the Fireside Pub, a newly-established restaurant that seats up to 50.
Our mission is to provide a club experience that offers a friendly atmosphere with first class golf and superior service to our members and guests. Greencastle (Irish: An Caisleán Nua), is a commercial fishing port located in the north of the scenic Inishowen Peninsula on the north coast of County Donegal, on Lough Foyle.

Greencastle, a lovely little seaside-fishing village, is situated on the east side of the Inishowen Peninsula, at the narrow mouth of Lough Foyle looking towards Magilligan Point. A car ferry connects the village with north County Derry and from there it's a relatively short drive to the Giant's Causeway. Derry, or the Maiden City as it's sometimes called, the second largest city in Northern Ireland is only 30 minutes drive from Greencastle, situated about 25 miles south, along the shores of Lough Foyle. A very interesting city with it's famous City Walls, Museums, Theatres, Restaurants as well as good shopping.

We are doing a lightning tour of the scenic Inishowen peninsula and have reached the fishing village of Greencastle. It is a very interesting spot full of history. fishing boats and fabulous history. We will have to return and check all this out on a better weather day.
Greencastle (Irish: An Caisleán Nua), is a commercial fishing port located in the north of the scenic Inishowen Peninsula on the north coast of County Donegal, Ireland on Lough Foyle. Nowadays, given the decline in the fishing industry, it resembles more closely a 'typical' Donegal holiday village. It is located a few miles from Moville and is about 20 miles from Derry. Greencastle's name comes from the castle in the area, which, in turn, may have derived its name from the green freestone with which it was built. The castle, originally built by the Anglo-Normans, is also known as Northburgh Castle.
There is a circular memorial tribute near the harbour listing the names of all those Inishowen sailing/fishing men who have been drowned over the decades. local men have been lost to the sea in virtually every decade.

Northburg Castle Greencastle Inishowen Co Donegal
The original castle was considered particularly great due to its scale, intricate towers and gatehouse. Unfortunately the sandstone castle was very badly damaged by cannon fire and very little remains of the original building apart from parts of the curtain wall and the remains of a small Norman church.

Martello Tower Greencastle Inishowen Co Donegal
At the beginning of the 19th century there was a perceived threat of invasion of Ireland by Napoleon. Thus, as a response, in 1801 Martello towers were built in order to defend against approaches to Derry. Six were constructed around Lough Swilly and two at the mouth of Lough Foyle, one at Magilligan and one at Greencastle (beside Northburg castle).

Beach View - A Holiday Home near Greencastle with panoramic views of Lough Foyle
Beach View is a lovely 3 bedroom holiday home located just outside the seaside village of Greencastle in north Inishowen. From its elevate site it enjoys panoramic views of sea, coast and mountain . From the front of the house there are views over Greencastle Golf club and Lough Foyle towards Magilligan Point and Binevenagh Mountain in North West Derry. To the side of the house there are lovely views northwards over Shroove Lighhouse towards the Derry coastline between Castlerock and Portrush. On clear days the Isle of Islay and the Scottish mainland are visible.
The holiday home has a number of tourist amenities in its immediate locality. A little over 1km from the front door are fine beaches -- the blue flag Stroove Beach and the smaller White Strand. These two beaches are overlooked by the iconic Stroove Lighthouse located on Dungaree Point. Less than 2km from the holiday home brings you into the centre of Greencastle village with it busy fishing harbour and historic castle ruins.
Overlooking the harbour is the Inishowen Maritime Museum and Planetarium. The museum exhibits include boats from 6ft to 50ft, The Armada Room, Emigration Room, thousands of items of memorabilia and photographs. The state-of-the-art Planetarium gives the visitor the ability to see how mariners used to navigate with the stars, and also provide dazzling astronomy and light shows. Facilities include gift shop and tea room. Also at Greencastle harbour is Kealys Seafood Bar -- a nationally renowned seafood restaurant. The Cairn Centre in the village brings Irish Heritage to life through lighting, voice overs, photographs, life size figures and miniature diagrams of Irish countryside. It covers the period from the very first farmer in Ireland to the recent past.
