Train Simulator 2019: N7 Adventures (3)/Keswick to Penrith (1) N7 to Threlkeld
Here we go again on yet another run is the London and North Eastern Railway N7 class.
Today's run is on a route called 'Keswick to Penrith', covering the section from Troutbeck to Threlkeld, and pulling some of the LNER Twinset coaches. Most of this run is downhill at around 1 in 60, which I found quite surprising. Also seen - going the other way - is a British Railways Standard 4MT class 2-6-4T.
The LNER N7 is available from Caledonia Works, while the Keswick to Penrith route is a freeware route available from UKTrainSim (file id 27639). As for the LNER Twinset coaches, they are a freeware product available from Digital Traction.

Music: Written & performed by my friend John Boyd
Lyrics:
We’re starting at the end of the land, where Cornwall leaves the sea.
White hat, black pants, red top Bertha and me.
Past Penzance to St Michael’s, and Newquay’s beautiful bay.
The Camel trail and the Tarka trail and the disused rail-ia-away.
You won’t hear Wellington’s voices from the top of Glastonbury’s Tor.
But when you in Wells you’ll hear Cathederal bells, cos that’s what the music is for.
I’m ‘resting in peace’ where others lay, as Bristol’s coming under my wheel.
With the railway cars, the cables of Clifton and the sofa for the
way that you feel………………….
From the Llanthony bridge of Gloucester to Hestercombe’s pleasant lands.
Worcester’s spires, Nantwich’s fires to the Iron Bridge’s wonderful spans.
Manchester’s topiary gardens, on to Whalley Abbey as you do.
The Forest of Bowland and the circles of stone, with Penrith coming into our view.
Christ!, what was that, Bertha’s broken a spoke, Carlisle’s put a spanner in the works.
Feelin’ slightly sniffy but they fixed it in a jiffy, cos that’s serendipty’s perks.
So now we’re pushing on to the border, Caledonia awaits with open arms.
Have you ever been to Gretna Green, or felt Glaesga’s waterside
charms………………….
From the castle’s of Dumbarton and Balloch, down the cycle track to Callandar town.
Through the woods of England’s queen, as the Scottish sun keeps shining down.
The waters of Venachar and Lubnaig, making friends with a trinity of coos.
Riding through the skies of Glen Ogle, and the ghosts of a hundred choo choos.
Now we’re going on down to Killin, Castle Menzies and the Dochart Falls.
Down the shores of Loch Tay, there’s nothing in our way, till the
Scottish Crannog Centre calls.
Castle Blair in the sunshine, up to Drumochter’s high pass and summit.
Dalwhinnie’s tipple visitor centre, Ruthven Barrack’s if you don’t
want to slum it!.......................
Aviemore’s for skiing and tee’ing, Carrbridge for a jump and a splash.
Tomatin distills and will tempt you with its thrills if you offer them a little bit of cash.
Inverness Castle’s standing red, proud and strong, whilst the
Lovats are all resting in peace.
Down in the mists crossing Kessock, up to Struie’s view that never seems to cease.
The Bridges at Dornoch and Bonar, Sutherland’s wilderness awaits.
The comforts of Crask, Lairg to Tongue, this land must one of heaven’s gates.
Looking out across the River Naver, Castle of May no needs for moats.
Then I can’t believe my eyes, is it some kind of disguise,
Yes its John, its John, its John, its John, its John O’Groats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This fantastic ride from Land’s End to John o’Groats covers 1,200 miles on the National Cycle Network, broken into 28 achievable stages using on-road and traffic-free routes and taking you through some of the most picturesque landscapes in England and Scotland. Breasthigh Road Aug 2015
The Lake District Land Rover Meet is a group of Land Rover owners that meet the first Wednesday of the month between 7pm - 11pm usually at the central location of The Beehive Inn, Eamont Bridge, Penrith, Cumbria, CA10 2BX. The Lake District Land Rover Meet is open to any Land Rover owner whether Classic or Modern.
We often have Series Is, IIs & IIIs, Defenders, Lightweights, Discoveries and the odd Range Rover turn up.
The group like to regularly go greenlaning and explore the variety of unsurfaced roads that the Lake District and surrounding areas offer. We aim to hold a monthly greenlane tour, navigated and led by experienced greenlaners and off-roaders. We can help with off-road recovery, driving technic, and essential off-road repairs.
For more info about us visit our Facebook page:
BREASTHIGH ROAD
On Wednesday 19th August 2015, we met at The Beehive at 6pm (this allows for most people to get time off work to enjoy the tour as many people work weekends too). We had planned a route down the A6 taking in a few short easy lanes before tackelling the steep rocky mountain pass that links the A6 from Kendal with the A685 at Tebay. However due to the weather, we wanted to make sure we could accomplish the pass and not get stuck in the dark, so we drove stright down the wet A6 to the start. Considering the consistant rain, the ford from the begining wasn't too bad. We passed it with ease but we all got a good soaking in the misty rain. We continued up the bumpy rocky track. There were some trail riders that passed us at the start that we saw ahead struggling with a particularly slippy rocky section. After seeing one take a stumble over his handle bars, we stopped to give a hand. making sure they were ok, we struggled around the tight steep hairpin but with 4 wheel drive, all managed ok. The weather still lashing down, we proceeded cautiously down the eastern side. It was evident that the road wasn't a fan of the weather also and we did a bit of rebuilding next to a washed out drainage gully. When we got to the end at Bretherdale Head, we decided that the weather had beaten us and make haist back to the Beehive for a pint.
Still a fun adventure. Come and join us on our next one!

I started walking from the beautiful RESERVOIR at the foot of Haweswater to the high street.High street was used by the romans and is a Roman road. The mountain terrain of Racecourse Hill is seen as we summit.passing blea water and climbing onto rough crag (riggindale) we follow the path of riggindale crag onto the summit of high street with stunning views of The Knott (High Street),Kidsty PikeIll, BellFroswick,Thornthwaite Crag then make our way to mardale fell and harter fell before dropping down to harter fell gully and back on path to Haweswater.
The history of Haweswater lake district. The ruins of Mardale Green in the Lake District were uncovered as Haweswater Reservoir has dried up in the summer dry heat. The reservoir was started construction in 1929 and fineshed in 1935.The whole valley was submerged since 1935, after the valley was purposely flooded to create Haweswater reservoir to feed Manchester and surrounding areas.Myth as the church bells can be seen ringing as the valley dries out.
Credits.

Grand Kids at Cables Wake Park - Penrith
We had a day out with the three boys at Penrith. Cables Wake Park has free entry and only pay for added attractions. The Water Park was great, despite the cold windy weather. After that, they all had a go at knee boarding and Viking even tried the Wake Board. We finished on the bouncy balloon to warm up before we headed home. They slept very well! We'll definitely be back here.
Cables is a great day out for all the family. .. Choose a sunny day!

Torry Hill Railway Full Ride
I hope you all enjoy this video. It look long enough to edit but I think it was worth it. This video shows Great Western Railway King Class 'King Geogre V' double heading with Southern Railway's Lord Nelson Class 'Lord Howe' and at the back Great Northern Railway Atlantic 'Rose' banking up to the hill summit where she eased off and returned back to sheds light engine. I had to stop the clip a couple of times due to condensation on the lens going through the tunnel. The tunnel and viaduct are both scale and are made of scale bricks. The tunnel has a scale man hole half way through the tunnel.
