Vintage Buses Devon General
A selection of pictures trawled from the internet featuring Devon General (which owned and operated Grey Cars and Greenslades). It was taken over by the Tillings Group of Companies as a division of Western National in the 1970's. The City of Exeter Corporation buses were, over a period of about 5 years, absorbed into Devon General's fleet and eventually received the red livery. Royal Blue Coaches, Western and Southern National buses make odd appearances in this slide show too, along with Devon General's very famous Sea Dogs that graced the Torquay/Paignton/Brikham/Kingswear coastal routes.

Exploring Some Corridor Coaches
On the evening of my first day on the Bluebell Railway, took a little video of myself exploring some British Railways corridor steam stock.
Having been used to contemporary American trains of the NYC Metropolitan area, this was my first encounter with compartments, openable windows, side corridors, slam doors, coaches being lit entirely by daylight, lack of air conditioning, and strangest of all, a funny sort of fire breathing animal which pulled the train rather than electric motors.
Well...
Unfortunately I failed to take the numbers of the coaches, so I can't say which ones I was inside, just that I was having a great time.

Exeter to Penezance out the window of a HST
Video of the trip from Exeter to Penezance, UK on July 25th from a FGW HST with MTU powercar 43135 leading the way.Video beggins just west of Exeter (i was on a train from Reading to Penzance, wish i had figured out that the door windows stayed open when the train was moving earlier!) ignore the rain drops on the first few clips, the rain clears shortly, the video ends with arrival in Penzance on a beutifual sunny day, unfortunatly the weather would return to proper english standards for the return trip with gray skys and constant light rain. for pictures of the trip look here

Vintage vehicles
A couple of non-railway clips from my collection.First some shots from the Newton Abbot 150 celebrations at Newton Abbot Racecourse held on the 14 May 2000 and finally a parade of vehicles to promote the Wolverhampton Show in the summer of 2000.
Kiwi rush hour in Wellington New Zealand. Former BR and Anglia MK2 carriages still going stong!
Former BR 1970's stock earning a crust on the other side of the world. Still using the same seats too. Externally there have been some changes of course such as new bogies to suit the narrower gauge of NZ railways. I used to travel on these almost daily in the UK in their final days of use.

The Alan Harrison Collection Part 13 Edinburgh Waverley and Haymarket
During July 1986, my good friend Alan traveled around the UK, armed with a hefty VHS camera, recording the railway scene. I'm delighted to be able to bring you the results. In Part 13, Alan visits Edinburgh Waverley and the nearby depot at Haymarket. The first shots are taken in Princess Street Gardens, between the two tunnels, where we see Class 27 and 47 hauled services. Alan than moves to a variety of locations around Waverley Station and captures some classic shots. Amongst others, we see 47716 Duke of Edinburgh's Award propelling a Glasgow bound push pull working, HSTs on East Coast Mainline services, Class 101 Met Cam DMUs on Fife Circle local workings and 47s and 27s on trains to and from Dundee and Carstairs. 26032 and 37011 double head some of the coaches from the Royal Scotsman luxury land cruise train and a pair of Class 20s work cartic wagons. All of this is set against the wonderful backdrop of Edinburgh, with views of Arthur's Seat, the Waverley Hotel, National Art Galley and the Castle. Alan then travels to Haymarket where he once again charms the staff into allowing him to visit the depot! The usual mix of Class 47, 27 and 20 locos are seen under repair, along with an unusual visitor, a class 55 Deltic - presumably 55022 / D900 Royal Scots Grey. Alan also captures some excellent footage of workings passing the depot, including a brilliant shot of 47702 St Cuthbert propelling a Glasgow bound push pull away from Haymarket as an Intercity 125 HST accelerates away from the capital on the parallel line, heading for either Inverness or Aberdeen. Alan returns to Waverley for some more shots in and around the station, including a wonderfully atmospheric shot under the canopy of a pair of Class 27s backing onto a Dundee service. Interestingly, this section finishes with a few more shots taken at Dundee, this time in the evening twilight. Given the time of year and the location, that probably makes it almost 10pm at night! We see 47430 heading for Glasgow with a rake of push pull coaches, presumably standing in for a failed 47/7. 47706 arrives with a terminating service from Glasgow before 27050 heads off on the Perth line.
