The Grimm brothers, specifically Jacob and Wilhelm were one German scholars who became popular for their colletion of fairy tales. They were both born and raised in Hanau which is near to Frankfurt. However, they were born in different dates. Jacob was born on January 4, 1785 and Wilhelm was born on February 24, 1786. They study in a school called Kassel and studied law at the University of Marburg. While on their stay at the university, they became interested about the language of the Germans and also folktales. After this, they began to collaborate with each other at a library located in Kassel. During their spare time, they spend it by studying the language and also collecting fairy tales and legends. Jacob was the first to perform a scientific study of the German grammar. It also considered to be the first study of any language that considered language as something closely linked to the life of the people who speak it.
In 1830, the Grimms moved the University of Gottingen in the kingdom of Hanover. However, during the year 1837, they were banned from stepping foot on Hanover for signing a petition to protest and go against the king. Nevertheless, they were given invitations to teach in Berlin and spent their last seven years working on a great German dictionary. Wilhelm died on December 16, 1859 while Jacob passed away 4 years later.
The first volume of their fairy tales first appeared during the year 1812, the second in 1815 and the third in 1822. They were collected for over 13 years. These tales became famous on how the Grimm brothers wrote all of them buy just hearing these stories. Many of these were told by Frau Viehmannin, a peasant who lived near Kassel and also by the wife of Wilhelm. Hans Christian Andersen became a friend of the Grimms when he visited Berlin.

MisteR -- 'Not So Grimm'
Mickey Lin and Ra Thomson of fashion label MisteR lost their workroom in the Christchurch earthquake of 22 February 2011. With help and support from many quarters, they were able to keep their small business going. Just 6 months later, they showed at New Zealand Fashion Week for the first time. Mickey and Ra felt their collection had been blessed with a fairytale ending, so they called it 'Not So Grimm' -- a metaphor for their journey since the earthquakes.
