Grimsby Ontario
Grimsby is a town on Lake Ontario in the Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada. Grimsby is a part of the Hamilton Census Metropolitan Area.[2] It is named after the English fishing town of Grimsby in North East Lincolnshire. The majority of residents reside in the area bounded by Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment. The escarpment (colloquially known as 'the mountain') is home to a section of the Bruce Trail.[3]
Grimsby has experienced significant growth over the past decade as the midpoint between Hamilton and St. Catharines. Growth is limited by the natural boundaries of Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment. Some residents feel that development is detrimental to the town as orchards close to the town centre are used for residential development; however, most of the orchards in Grimsby were replaced by houses between the 1950s and 1980s and very few orchards remain.[4]
Some notable attractions in Grimsby are the local skatepark, the Grimsby Museum,[5] the Grimsby Public Library,[6] the Grimsby Public Art Gallery,[7] the West Niagara YMCA, the Danish Church and the hockey arena (Peach King Centre), home of the Grimsby Peach Kings.

Abbey Walk Gallery 'Out of the Dark' exhibition, Grimsby
Sean O'Toole introduces us to the fantastic 'Out of the Dark' exhibition that has been staged in Grimsby. The exhibition, spread across three venues, mixes works by the likes of Dali, Picasso and Banksy, alongside local artists and sculptors, and has been organised by Elaine Munson and Gill Gibbon and wealth or volunteers & associates from the Abbey Walk Gallery, Grimsby.
It is a first for Grimsby to have such iconic pieces of art all in one place, and hopes for the future are that it will attract more exhibitions to visit the town and put Grimsby firmly on the map for art and culture.

Prince Harry, who is the naval Commodore-In-Chief, Small Ships and Diving, handed out operational medals to sailors of HMS Middleton,HMS Shoreham and HMS Grimsby who served on minehunters in waters off Iraq.
After a quick change into a suit and tie the Prince then hot footed it across the dock to the Mary Rose Trust in Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard to lay the foundation stone of the new museum which will open in Autumn next year.

Commemoration of the Engagement at the Forty
A military engagement took place in our town of Grimsby on June 8th in 1813 during the War of 1812. As the American army retreated from Stoney Creek, they camped along the Forty Mile Creek and were subsequently bombarded by British naval fire along the shores of Lake Ontario, joined by attacks on foot from our own 4th and 5th Regiments of the Lincoln Militia, along with our Indigenous allies.
Due to the significance of this event for our town, we will commemorate the 205th Anniversary of the Engagement at the Forty on June 8th 2019. We are a officially designated Battle Site, and a registered charitable organization whose purpose is to educate the public about some of our town’s earliest days, and to bring history to life.
Hope to see you there!
Shout-out to Forty Creek Whisky for providing us with this amazing promo video. Check out their 2019 limited release entitled Victory in commemoration of Grimsby's role in the War of 1812.

GO Engine 626 West with cabcar 211, CN Grimsby Sub, Jones rd Stoney Creek
This westbound GO train was heading for the Niagara region on the second day of service so far this summer. The horn on this cab car was extremely loud and the little shake of the camera right before the train passes was due to me waving, not being startled lol. That was by far the loudest horn I've ever heard. I was at Jones road in east end Stoney Creek, mile 34.29 Grimsby Sub.
