Picture a dream mountain resort and it would look a lot like Grindelwald in the Bernese Alps. This village is under the infamous North Face of Eiger, a monumental wall of rock that inspires and intimidates in equal measure. The North Face was first conquered in 1938 and attracts hundreds of climbers every year, which look like tiny flecks as they battle up the rock.
Grindelwald’s Alpine pastures are achingly idyllic and cable-cars make it easy to hit the trails for scenic mountain lookouts, the Grindelwald Glacier and lakes. When decked with snow, this landscape has been a filming location for Star Wars and James Bond movies, and serves up dozens of kilometres of ski trails and sledging runs in winter.

This is a walking tour around the top of Europe at Grindelwald, Switzerland during early summer June 2018. Grindelwald might just be the most peaceful and beautiful city in all of Switzerland. I start walking the village around 3:20 into the video.

You can get to the top of Switzerland’s Jungfrau mountain in one of the most scenic journeys of your entire Swiss visit, while on the same big day you can find time for several easy hikes and scenic rides by train and cable car, enjoying some of the world’s finest sights, walking Grindelwald's glacier gulch, and mountain trails near Wengen.

Plan to spend 2 hours at the day's main destination, the Jungfrau, at 9:50 nearly 4,000 meters elevation, enjoying the views, frolicking in the snow and experiencing the many exhibits on offer at the summit. Then take the train back down towards Wengen, then hop off along the way for an easy downhill hike at 18:07 in Alpine meadows to Wengen village. Next take a scenic round-trip train ride down to Lauterbrunnen at 19:29 and back up. A cable car ride then carries you on a different route at 21:20 back over the mountains from Wengen to Grindelwald, which is a lovely village to visit, plus you can take a hike there in a glacier canyon at 23:16 . Then take the train back down to Interlaken where you started the day.

First Mountain in the Swiss Alps of Switzerland offers the best extreme activities during the summer months ranging from mountain carting, zip line, paragliding and scooter biking which you can reach with the gondola from Grindelwald in the Jungfrau region.
Did you know the Moo Moo Farm race track from Mario Kart 64 actually exists? Due to the many cows with cowbells on the First this is as close as it gets to the actual video game race track.

Paragliding, 88km/h by zipline, mountain carting and scooter biking, the First mountain in Grindelwald offers it all.
I recommend taking the gondola from Grindelwald in the early morning to the top of the mountain on which you can enjoy breathtaking views of the valley than enjoy the famous cliff walk with glass floor before heading to the zipline.
The lineup at the zipline can easily grow to a 2 hour wait so I highly suggest you make that your first activity in the morning after the cliff walk.
Afterwards hop on the mountain cart located next to the zipline end-station to experience Mario Kart in real life.
The prices vary a lot per activity with paragliding at $200, zipline at $30 and mountain cart & scooter bike both at $20 each.
Whatever your budget, a day on the First is worth every penny especially when the skies are clear and the weather is warm.
If you are not on a tight budget, treat yourself to a delicious lunch at the First restaurant and enjoy its great views from the terrace. If you are on a budget, I highly recommend you pack a lunch to safe cash for the activities.
Finally, the scooter bike, these bikes go extremely fast so don't be generous on the breaks while in tight situations.
The scooter bike trails take your through gorgeous landscapes with grazing cows and little mountain cottages, ideal Instagram-selfie-opportunities here.
If time permits hike towards the lakes on the First, at the Bachsee and Hagelseewli you will be able to enjoy astonishing views.

Interlaken (German pronunciation: [ˈɪntɐlakn̩]; lit.: between lakes) is a statistic town and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is an important and well-known tourist destination in the Bernese Highlands region of the Swiss Alps, and the main transport gateway to the mountains and lakes of that region.
The town is located on the flat alluvial land called Bödeli between the two Lakes of Brienz to the east and Thun to the west and alongside the river Aare, which flows from one to the other. Transport routes to the east and west alongside the lakes are complemented by a route southwards into the near mountain resorts and high mountains, e.g. the famous high Alpine peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, following upwards the Lütschine.
Interlaken is the central town of a Small Agglomeration with the same name of 23,300 inhabitants.[3]
The official language of Interlaken is (the Swiss variety of Standard) German, but the main spoken language is the local variant of the Alemannic Swiss German dialect.
