¡Hola! My name is Brendin. My husband, Tim, and I moved from Texas to Mexico in September 2017! We love living in Puerto Vallarta, not only because of the natural beautiful surroundings, cultural richness, and low cost of living, but also because of the delicious and abundant local plant foods. Tim and I choose to follow a vegan lifestyle for our health, for the animals, and for the planet! We believe in compassionate living, sustainability, and minimalism. Our videos are about our personal journeys, our life, and what we have learned along the way.

Where is the Gringo Gulch in Puerto Vallarta Mexico?
Gringo Gulch is a picturesque residential area in the historical part of Downtown Puerto Vallarta, located on the hillside to the East and uphill from the main square and on the north bank of the Cuale River.
Where is it, map, history and more:
Without a doubt, it was the paparazzi photographs and reports of the greatest 20th-century love affair that helped promote Puerto Vallarta as one of the most romantic places in the world, and this all started in the area of the city (a town at that time) called Gringo Gulch.
Throughout the decade of the 1950's the area on the hill of the downtown area north of the River Cuale developed as an expatriate neighborhood. One of the first important newcomers to arrive in Puerto Vallarta, that would direct the development in the area, was Fernando Freddy Romero.
Unlike the rich local's architectural tastes, that included more modern construction designs and materials, Romero wanted a more typical Mexican pueblo style and atmosphere, something that later would become known as the Vallarta Style. It included red-tile roofs, white-washed adobe facades, wrought iron decorations and stone walls.

Crossing Gringo Gulch bridge to the Cuale River Island
Pedestrian Bridge from the Cuale River Island to Gringo Gulch
This bridge was built in 2012 as part of Puerto Vallarta’s downtown revitalization project, it brought two important parts of town together and injected a bit more life into the cultural part of the Isla Rio Cuale.
Read more on our site: - maps, photos, history, how to get there and more.
It offers some very nice views of the Island and Old Vallarta to the south, the river is also in full display as are the houses that line the edges of the Cuale River, many of them the original homes that established themselves in the Gringo Gulch. You can see on photos from The Night Of The Iguana documentary that John Huston was there overlooking the river and a much less developed south side.
This bridge (also known as Iguana Bridge or Bridge of the Iguana) is a large white structure, with the same handrails that are used on the pedestrian bridge that goes over the Cuale river between the Malecon II and the romantic zone (Old Vallarta) so I will guess they were both built by the same company. What makes this bridge stand out, besides the harmonic metal structure's design (painted white), are some steps that appear more than half way up, they bulge out of the rough concrete-sand stairs and are covered in green and yellow colored tiles, a nice touch that makes the Gringo Gulch bridge unique.
So now there are three hanging bridges that connect the north and south sides to the island, two main bridges and two pedestrian bridges at both ends of the island, one by the sea and the malecon's south end, and this one, connecting the east end of the island with the historical downtown area and the Gringo Gulch.

La Casita has her separate entrance and a garage, as well. She was finished in 2008 and is 2 bedrooms, 2 baths with a well-equipped kitchen, separate living and dining, small pool and private terrace. Hand-painted tiles and faux and trompe l'oeil walls give her a unique look.
Big and little sister are multi-level, comfortable and understated. Their styles are reminiscent of country French, with integral elements of Mexico through-out.
Both homes are offered at 945,000usd.
