Grist Mill and Gardens at Keremeos - 1989 Promotional Video
This video was prepared in the late 1980's to promote the Grist Mill and Gardens heritage site in Keremeos, BC. Lots has changed in the intervening years, but it's still a very special place and is still the only working waterwheel-powered flour mill in Western Canada, with lovely heritage gardens and more.
It's fascinating to see the changes from today, like when the tea room was in the west wing of the White Building (now a display about artist and early visitor to the Similkameen, Julia Bullock-Webster), how the gardens have changed, and more.
Some of the special people in this video include Cuyler Page, Sharon Rempel, Irene, John and more...

Similkameen Valley to Keremeos and beyond - YouTube
With low property prices, low crime, clean air and local produce for a healthy lifestyle retiring in some of the more remote areas like the Similkameen Valley by Keremeos might seem like a good idea, but when health issues arise, the remoteness of the area could become a curse.
In 2014 we might have to do a price comparison on fruit and produce between some of the agricultural areas in the Okanagan like Kelowna, Penticton, Oliver/Osoyoos and Keremeos.

2013 Similkameen BBQ King
On July 13th, 2013, nine chefs from BC gathered at the Grist Mill and Gardens in Keremeos in an iron chef type competition where they produced amazing culinary creations using an identical box of locally sourced organic ingredients from the Similkameen area. Each chef was paired with one of the member wineries of the Similkameen Wineries Association. Each guest had the opportunity to try a dish from each chef with a wine from their paired winery and then cast their vote for the 2013 Similkameen BBQ King.
What a wonderful evening. Thank you to everyone that attended!
