Mechelen, Belgium: The Grote Markt and the Beguinage
The Grote Markt (big market) is the main square in Mechelen. On saturdays there is a food market on the square. The beguinague (Groot begijnhof) is located at the nortwest of the old city.

Met deze videoreeks “Wandelen door Mechelen” doorkruis ik met mijn camera diverse plaatsen in Mechelen en zal op deze wijze proberen om een totaaloverzicht van de stad te bieden.
Elke video, in deze reeks, zal over een bepaalde plaats of omgeving in de stad gaan waarmee ik jullie zal meenemen naar plaatsen waar ik regelmatig in de stad langskom.
Alles zal aanbod komen, straten, pleinen, parken, historische en andere gebouwen, natuurgebieden enz. Met andere woorden, zowat alles wat de moeite waard is om te bezoeken als je naar Mechelen komt.

A Day Trip to Mechelen, Belgium
A few years ago my boyfriend told me he would take me to the Martin's Patershof Hotel in Mechelen for my birthday. We decided that we would turn it into a little sight seeing adventure around the city.
What's there to see? Well, not so much. But still... it was a great little trip.

Stadswandeling door Mechelen:
station-Kruidtuin-Hanswijkbasiliek-Sint-Pieters en Paulkerk-Grote Markt met stadhuis en Sint-Romboutskathedraal-'t Groen Waterke-Sint-Janskerk-Klein Begijnhof-Sint-Katelijnekerk-Kazerne Dossinen Holocaustmuseum-kerstmatkt bij de Dijle.
Bevrijding 75 jaar - Mechelen
Precies 75 jaar geleden werd een einde gemaakt aan jaren van Duitse bezetting tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Om de vreugde van destijds te herbeleven en de gesneuvelden te herdenken reed begin september 2019 een indrukwekkende colonne van zo'n zeventig hedendaagse en hidstorische legervoertuigen door België. Deze video gaat over het event op de grote markt te Mechelen.

An afternoon exercise of people watching in the Grote Markt in the centre of Mechelen, Belgium.
Comfortable folding canvas chair graciously provided by Peter Sleecks, owner of Frituur Rombout, the best frituur in all of Mechelen.
Mechelen in Vuur En Vlam
Op 22 december 2018 stond Mechelen in Vuur En Vlam.
Het ganse weekend stond in het teken van kerst maar op zaterdag verzorgde Theater Tol het orgelpunt met een heus spektakel op de grote markt.
In deze video kijk ik terug op de repetities die in de loop van de namiddag doorgingen op de grote markt, het vele volk in straten shoppend in de binnenstad en ’s avonds het spektakel op de grote markt waar er een massa volk voor op de been was gebracht.
Heel veel om allemaal in beeld te brengen, en vooral ’s avonds was het niet eenvoudig om een plekje te vinden en mooie beelden te kunnen maken.
Alle rechten van de beelden van het spektakel horen natuurlijk toe aan Theater Tol.

Donderdag 5 september 2019 werd op de Grote Markt 75 jaar Bevrijding van de stad Mechelen herdacht. Meer dan 50 militaire voertuigen namen deel aan de parade doorheen het historische stadscentrum dat op 4 september 1944 bevrijd werd. In deze video unieke interviews met o.a getuigen die de bevrijding in onze stad hebben meegemaakt.
