Sirmione, Lake Garda, Italy & Grotte di Catullo Roman Ruins - 4K 60FPS
4K Ultra HD 60FPS Aerial video of Sirmione, on Lake Garda.
Beautiful views of ancient ruins of a Roman Villa. The location is also known as Grotte di Catullo, Catullo being a famous poet born in the Verona region and thought to possibly be the owner of the Villa. Grottoes of Catullus is the name given to the ruins of this Roman villa at the northernmost end of the peninsula of Sirmione on the southern shore of Lago di Garda. Today, researchers believe the extensive ruins are from a grand home started near the end of the first century B.C., after the poet is believed to have died. It was built for a wealthy family from Verona, in whose territory Sirmione lay during the Roman period. The villa is on the end of a tip of land poking into the lake, with gorgeous views on three sides.
The video was filmed in 4k with a Mavic Pro 2.

Places to see in ( Sirmione - Italy ) Grotte di Catullo
Places to see in ( Sirmione - Italy ) Grotte di Catullo
Grottoes of Catullus is the name given to the ruins of a Roman villa which was built at the beginning of our era at the northernmost end of the peninsula of Sirmione on the southern shore of Lake Garda.
The Grotte di Catullo are the remains of an imposing Roman villa on the extreme outcrop of the Sirmione peninsula . We are located on Lake Garda, in the province of Brescia and these ruins are a spectacular testimony of the bold ability of Roman builders between the first century. BC and the I sec. AD to build a villa 120 meters long and 105 meters wide on a slope stretching towards the crystal waters of the lake, defeating the strong differences in the rocky tongue.
The name Cavesit is decidedly deceptive: most of today's visitors, fasting information, expect to enter the bowels of the earth when they can walk in an archaeological site of the highest cultural value en plein air, sloping down from the entrance, where the museum is located. the southern part of the complex, at the panoramic lake front. The term was used for the first time in the 1400s when most of the site was in fact buried and the scholars who were rediscovering the works of Catullus, reading the famous Carme 31 in which the poet describes the return to the house of Sirmione, thought that the remains were unmistakably those of his villa. Later studies have instead dated the site in the period following the death of Catullus and therefore the owner
In the museum there are exhibits of different eras found on the spot. Unfortunately, not much is attributable to the villa itself because in addition to the collapse of the III century. AD, the site has been outraged by a systematic dispossession of local stones perfectly carved for the construction of other buildings. Stop and watch the video (it lasts about ten minutes) that illustrates the history of the pharaonic villa reconstructing its structure on the basis of the remains visible today. After the video, go up to the top level of the museum and start the walk that will take you from the upstream area (the most damaged) to the lake, distributed on three levels still partially visible to make up for the steep slope. The villa, of rectangular plan, had a residential area, terraces and porches
