Central Living On Guam
BUENAS & HAFA ADAI. My name is Leah from LivingOnGuam.com. Curious about living Central on the island? Come join me as I tell you more about it…
Q: Why would you want to live in the Central Region of Guam?
A: If you want to be where the action is, close to shopping, bars, clubs, and restaurants, then Central is where you want to be.
Q: What Villages are in the Central and what housing options are available?
A: The two most popular villages in Central are Tamuning and Tumon.
Tamuning is where you’ll find the Guam International Airport, the Guam Premium Outlets and lots of familiar big chain restaurants and bars.
Tumon is where the most popular beach on Guam, Tumon Bay is located. And it’s lined with big Hotels, restaurants, bars and High End brand Stores.
In these two areas, it’s mostly condominiums and townhouses because it’s a prime location and space is in high demand
Now, if you’re looking for single-family homes, you can find these in the other Central Villages Agana Heights, Sinajana, Mong-Mong/Toto/Maite, Ordot/Chalan Pago, Piti, Barrigada and Mangilao. These are still close to the happenings in Tumon and Tamuning but far enough so you can enjoy some peace and quiet.
Q: What do the other Central Villages have to Offer?
A: There are lots of things in the other central villages. There are spectacular look out spots. In Hagatna, you will find the seat of the island’s government, the Chamorro Village, the Cathedral & several historic places like the Plaza de Espana.
Q: How Can LivingOnGuam.com help people find a home if they want to live in the Central Area?
A: The Central Area is a popular choice for people looking for homes to buy or rent.
If you are military, living in Central is great because you are 20 to 30 minutes by car to Andersen Airforce Base or Navy Base. And 15 mins to the Naval Hospital.
Local Residents like living here because it’s close to the business districts of Hagatna & Tamuning and the higher education schools: the University of Guam and Guam Community College.
We, at LivingOnGuam.com can help you find your perfect rental or purchase home by working with your desires, needs and budget.
Communication is key and we communicate with our clients long before we begin the purchase process and long before they even set foot on Guam (THAT IS, if they’re relocating or being stationed here by the military) so we can give them an idea of what is available and manage their expectations.
We work closely with newcomers, investors, and long time residents during the entire rental or purchase process.
We’d love to help you so stay connected with us on our website: livingonguam.com and our facebook page: facebook.com/livingonguam, Twitter, Periscope, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest: LeahfromGuam

SUMMARY
=======
Guam ( ( listen); Chamorro: Guåhån Chamorro pronunciation: [ˈɡʷɑhɑn]) is an unincorporated and organized territory of the United States in Micronesia in the western Pacific Ocean. It is the easternmost point and territory of the United States, along with the Northern Mariana Islands. The capital city of Guam is Hagåtña and the most populous city is Dededo. The inhabitants of Guam are called Guamanians, and they are American citizens by birth. Indigenous Guamanians are the Chamorros, who are related to other Austronesian natives to the west in the Philippines and Taiwan.
In 2016, 162,742 people resided on Guam. Guam has an area of 210 square miles (540 km2; 130,000 acres) and a population density of 775 per square mile (299/km2). In Oceania, it is the largest and southernmost of the Mariana Islands and the largest island in Micronesia. Among its municipalities, Mongmong-Toto-Maite has the highest population density at 3,691 per square mile (1,425/km2), whereas Inarajan and Umatac have the lowest density at 119 per square mile (46/km2). The highest point is Mount Lamlam at 1,332 feet (406 m) above sea level. Since the 1960s, the economy has been supported by two industries: tourism and the United States Armed Forces. The indigenous Chamorros settled the island approximately 4,000 years ago. Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, while in the service of Spain, was the first European to visit the island, on March 6, 1521. Guam was colonized by Spain in 1668 with settlers, including Diego Luis de San Vitores, a Catholic Jesuit missionary. Between the 16th century and the 18th century, Guam was an important stopover for the Spanish Manila Galleons. During the Spanish–American War, the United States captured Guam on June 21, 1898. Under the Treaty of Paris, Spain ceded Guam to the United States on December 10, 1898. Guam is among the seventeen non-self-governing territories listed by the United Nations. Before World War II, there were five American jurisdictions in the Pacific Ocean: Guam and Wake Island in Micronesia, American Samoa and Hawaii in Polynesia, and the Philippines.
On December 7, 1941, hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Guam was captured by the Japanese, who occupied the island for two and a half years. During the occupation, Guamanians were subjected to beheadings, forced labor, rape, and torture. American forces recaptured the island on July 21, 1944; Liberation Day commemorates the victory. An unofficial but frequently used territorial motto is Where America's Day Begins, which refers to the island's close proximity to the international date line.
