Gue Mummy | Secret Mummy in India | mystery of mummy| Sangha Tenzin| Himachal Pradesh.
Gue is a high altitude village in Spiti Valley on the way to Kaza. The small sleepy, indiscreet village at an altitude of almost 3000 metres houses India’s only known mummy preserved naturally. Village is located deep in the valley. Just three kilometres ahead of Sumdoh towards Tabo is a diversion towards Gue. Village is another 20 kilometres from there. Mummy is housed in a temple on a small hilltop at the end of the village. Temple normally remains locked and one has to search for the keys at the neighbourhood, down in the village. There is a big temple under construction close to current temple.

Gue Mummy | Mummy of INDIA | Gue Monastery | Spitti Valley
The village of Gue is situated at an altitude or around 10,499 ft above sea-level. Gue also houses India’s only known naturally preserved 500 year old mummy.

Gue Monastery | Lama Mummy of Gue Village | Kinnaur Spiti Series | Vlog 3
In our Kinnaur Spiti Series, on this day we had entered Spiti Valley. Sumdo is the border and check post between Kinnaur and Spiti. Just few kms ahead from Sumdo, there is a diversion to Gue Village which is approx. 8 kms from the Highway.
This visit is the most fascinating day of our trip as I have encountered those facts personally which I was hearing from a long time.
Gue Village is famous for Gue Monastery and presiding Lama Mummy in the monastery. What's most shocking and amazing is ..this Lama Mummy is more than 500 years old and have been preserved without using any chemicals. More shocking is..it still have little skin, hair, eyelashes on left eye, teeth which u can see clearly and nails.

Episode 8: In this Episode we Enter the Spiti Valley & we head out to a very remote village i.e. Gue Village. It is the village that is famous for its 600 Years old Mummy. It’s a strange feeling when we witness the mummy, or we can say a great monk who sacrificed his life for the settlement of the Gue village. After staying for a while in Gue village we went further to Tabo & then Dhankar, but it is not the destination that we are talking about. We can assure you these will be one of the best roads that you will ever witness, filled with beauty, huge mountains, deep valleys & an endless stretch of Indo-Tibetan Road.
Route: We took the Main NH-505 road i.e. the Indo-Tibetan Road. That lead us to Tabo, further we reached Dhankar from the same road using a detour on the right.

Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name Spiti means The Middle Land, i.e. the land between Tibet and India.
Local population follow Vajrayana Buddhism similar to that found in the nearby Tibet and Ladakh regions. The valley and surrounding region is one of the least populated regions in India and is the gateway to the northernmost reaches of the nation. Along the northern route from Manali, Himachal Pradesh or Keylong via the Rohtang Pass or Kunzum Pass respectively, the valley lies in the North Eastern section of the Indian state Himachal Pradesh, and forms part of the Lahaul and Spiti district. The sub-divisional headquarters (capital) is Kaza, Himachal Pradesh which is situated along the Spiti River at an elevation of about 12,500 feet (3,800 m) above mean sea level.
Lahaul and Spiti district is surrounded by high mountain ranges. The Rohtang Pass, at 13,054 feet (3,979 m), separates Lahul and Spiti from the Kullu Valley. Lahul and Spiti are cut off from each other by the higher Kunzum Pass, at 15,059 feet (4,590 m). A road connects the two divisions, but is cut off frequently in winter and spring due to heavy snow. The valley is likewise cut off from the north up to eight months of the year by heavy snowfalls and thick icing conditions. A southern route to India proper is periodically closed for brief periods in the winter storms of November through June, but road access is usually restored a few days after storms end via Shimla and the Sutlej in the Kinnaur district.
Spiti valley is a research and cultural centre for Buddhists. Highlights include Key Monastery and Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the world and a favourite of the Dalai Lama. It was the location of the scenery and cinematography in the Indian films Paap, Highway and Milarepa, a biographical adventure tale about one of Buddhism's most famous Tibetan saints. The Buddhist monastery in the valley served as the locus of the set and some of the monks appeared in the film.
The Pin Valley of Spiti is home to the few surviving Buchen Lamas of the Nyingmapa sect of Buddhism.
The small town of Manali was the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and, from there, over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim Basin. Spiti is summer home to hundreds of semi-nomadic Gaddi sheep and goat herders who come to this valley for grazing their animals from the surrounding villages and sometimes as far as 250 km. They enter the valley during summer as the snow melts and leave just a few days before first snowfall of the season.

The MUMMY 550 YEARS OLD GUE VILLAGE KAZA SPITI
550 years old MUMMY with teeth and growing hair - NO ARTIFICIAL PRESERVATION.....
The Mummy, identified as that of monk SANGHA TENZIN, was found inside a tomb at GUE village in the cold and remote Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh.
When an earthquake struck in 1975, GUE villagers have known about the Mummy. However, due to remoteness of GUE, the mummy existence has remained under wraps.
It is very very close to INDO-CHINA border, hence it has lot of restricted movement s as well.

Adhbhut Avishwasaniya Akalpaniya: The Mummy Of Spiti Valley
It is believed that this revered lama was a Tibetan monk named Sangha Tenzin, who gave up his life about 600 years back while meditating in the squatting position he was discovered mummified inside a tomb. The locals of Gue knew about the mummy since 1975 when an earthquake brought down a part of the tomb. But its sheer remoteness kept it out of bounds. Carbon dating carried out by some foreign scientists estimated it to be about 550 years old.

ये हैं रहस्यमय ममी जिसके नाखून और बाल आज भी बढ़ रहे हैं
There is a village on Samodo Kaza road in Spiti area of Himachal Pradesh where a lama of Mama is kept in a monastery sitting in a monastery. Now you will say what is special about this. It is a special matter because even though he is called Mami, Vishasagya has not agreed on this, because of his hair and nails which are still growing. Two miles away from the Tibet border, India is kept in the Mummy Lahul Spiti of this meditative saint towards India. It is said that this mummy is about 545 years old, despite this the mystery remains that how it has remained in this condition despite having been submerged in the land without any coagulation for so many years. Another shocking thing is that no matter how many mummies are found in the world, they are in a lying position, but it is in the sitting position. Seeing this mummy it seems as if a monk or a Buddhist monk is sitting in meditation mode. The villagers believed that this Mami was first kept in the village and was established in a stupa. When a powerful earthquake came in 1974, it was buried in rubble. After that, in 1995 ITBP jawans were found digging during road construction. People also say that during the excavation, the head was spun on the head and blood was released, whose marks can still be seen today. As of 2009, these mummies are kept in the ITBP's office. Later it was established as a heritage of the village and was installed in a glass cabin in the monastery there. Now the families living in the village take turns doing it alternately.
