Walk around Guernsey
In the summer of 2016 i decided to go for a walk around one of the Channel islands - Guernsey. Weather was pretty foggy but perfect for a long walk. Beautiful nature, amazing coast line and smiling people healped me to finish this over 46 km journey. Big thanks to Port Soif kiosk for providing me with a powerfull smoothie in the middle of this special day. Go outside closer to nature, people! ///
2016. gada vasarā nolēmu doties pastaigā apkārt vienai no Normandijas salām - Gērnsija. Laika apstākļi miglaini, bet ideāli priekš garas pastaigas. Skaistā daba, smaidīgie cilvēki, jūra un krasta līnija palīdzēja pieveikt šo, mazliet virs 46 km, garo piedzīvojumu. Cilvēki, ejiet ārā, dabā un izbaudiet dzīvi!

Guernsey - the great of nature
The Bailiwick of Guernsey (pronounced /ˈɡɜrnzi/ GURN-zee; French: Bailliage de Guernesey, IPA: [bajaʒ də ɡɛʁnəzɛ]) is a British Crown Dependency in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy.
As well as the island of Guernsey itself, it also includes Alderney, Herm, Jethou, Brecqhou, Burhou, Lihou, Sark and other islets. Although the defence of all these islands is the responsibility of the United Kingdom,[2] the Bailiwick of Guernsey is not part of the U.K. but rather a separate possession of the Crown, comparable to the Isle of Man. Guernsey is also not part of the European Union. The island of Guernsey is divided into 10 parishes. Together with the Bailiwick of Jersey, the Bailiwick of Guernsey is included in the grouping known as the Channel Islands. Guernsey belongs to the Common Travel Area.
LIBERATION DAY AND HERITAGE FESTIVAL CHANNEL ISLANDS
The Channel Islands UK are this year marking their 70th Liberation Day in May and making it even more special with a 5 week long Heritage Festive running up to the actual date.
Marking the day on May 9th in 1945 when the islands were returned to Britain after Hitler’s troops had invaded them for a 5-year period during World War II.
The group of islands that lay just off the Northern French coast have all come together to make this 70th anniversary even more iconic.
The non-stop programme will include exclusive tours, special openings of historic sites, themed and guided walks, bus and coach tours plus special exhibitions and then ending with huge parades on Liberation Day itself.
The many relics left by the German troops are scattered over every island. All the islands in the group, in fact eight are inhabited they all have bunkers, towers and gun emplacements which are now very much on the tourist trail and are actively searched out by all tourists including the Germans themselves.

A trailer for 'The History of Guernsey in 60min'
Four actors spent 3 hours hours devising this. Imagine what we could do with proper funding?
Actors Sarah Hansmann, Dave Hyett, Oliver Davies and Elizabeth Went
Camera work - Stephen Rouxel and editing by Sarah Hansmann
The idea is to create an original piece of Theatre about Guernsey for Guernsey.
Research and Development of the play will involve interviewing 75- 100 people from across Guernsey and asking them what their favourite story or piece of Guernsey history. These stories will be used to inform the research areas and help create the potential narrative structure of the play.
The four actors will then devise the play using all the information and stories gathered through the interviews and research. They'll rehearse it and at the end put on a run in a Theatre.
After that it can be performed anywhere you want to see it. At the Castle, Candie Gardens, Market Square even on the Beach.

Rough Sea at Le Jaonnet Bay, Guernsey
Rough sea and force 8 winds at Le Jaonnet Bay, Guernsey in the Channel Islands on the 22 November 2012. This bay is on Guernsey's south coast in the parish of St. Martins and has no road access. You can get there by going to Icart Point car park and walking almost half a mile along the cliff path on the right hand side of the car park.
The path to the bay branches off to the left of the main cliff path. You then have 218 steps and a ladder to get to the beach. This bay is not officially a nudist beach but sometimes people do sunbathe naked down here.

Torrential Rain Creates Waterfall in Victoria Marina, St. Peter Port, Guernsey
A bit of random footage of a brief thunder storm in Guernsey, with just 15 minutes of torrential rain creating a waterfall in Victoria Marina (Guernsey's Victoria Falls?). It also created the kind of flood in town that we normally only see on extreme high tides.

Tour description in princess.com:
Your tour begins as you board your motorcoach for a scenic drive through the Norman countryside, across the Tancarville Bridge to Honfleur.
Upon arriving, you'll embark on a guided walking tour of this picturesque fishing port. Once the base for France's 17th-century voyages of colonization, Honfleur was also the birthplace of the Impressionist and Romantic art movements.
During your guided walk, you'll take in the Vieux Bassin, the old dock that dates back to 1681, and pass the Lieutenance, an imposing building at one end of the old dock that was the home of the King's Lieutenant.
Also on your itinerary is St. Catherine's Church, a 15th-century church built by shipwrights. Today, it's the largest wooden church with a separate bell-tower in France. The bell-tower, also largely built of wood, dates from the end of the 15th century and is now a museum of religious art.
The next part of the tour is on your own. You're free to explore this charming town, replete with narrow cobbled streets, art galleries, sidewalk cafés and traditional craft shops.
Your tour concludes with a drive across the new Normandy Bridge spanning the Seine estuary as you make your way back to the pier.
