Ruins of Guge Kingdom

Ruins of Guge Kingdom is located in the Zhada Clay Forest of Zanda County, Ngari of China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. Guge Kingdom was founded in about the 10th century,and had lasted more than 700 years history.During its lifetime the Guge Kingdom played an important part in the economic and cultural development of Tibet.

Tibetan women perform a traditional song and dance, known as xuan wu, near the ruins of the Guge Kingdom, which existed from the 10th to 17th century, in Zanda County, Tibet Autonomous Region.

Guge is the legendary ancient kingdom of Tibet. It is located in the far west of China in Ngari prefecture in Tibetan Autonomy. Its capital cave city of Tsaparang impresses with its greatness. Pilgrimage to this kingdom is hard and long - the region is isolated from rest of Tibet and is surrounded by inaccessible Grand Himalayas.

西藏札达古格王朝遗址修旧如旧 / Ruins of Zanda Guge Dynasty in Tibet

古格王国遗址位于西藏自治区阿里地区札达县外的一座土山上，至今已有一千多年历史。上世纪八十年代，国家和地方开始投入巨资维修保护遗址。
古格遗址所在的土山，经过一千多年的风吹日晒，水土流失严重，这对古格遗址造成了很大的破坏，要想保护好遗址，首先要做的就是保护好这座土山。
古格遗址是古格王朝政权在其延续的七百多年里不断扩建而来的。经过长年风雨侵蚀，遗址受损严重。罗丹介绍，维修保护工作是为了给子孙后代留下一个原汁原味的古格遗址。
得益于文保部门多年的保护和修复，古格王朝遗址中有6座寺庙比较完整地保留下来，寺庙中遗存有大面积的精美壁画。壁画题材有各类佛、菩萨、度母、护法神、高僧像以及吐蕃赞普世系图、释迦牟尼传记图等。

3,000-year-old tombs unearthed in Tibet

Archaeologists announced on Monday that they have excavated tombs dating back some 3,000 years in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. A total of nine tombs were found at ruins 10 km from the county seat of Zanda in Ali Prefecture. The regional institute of cultural heritage protection, in cooperation with the Shanxi provincial institute of archaeology, excavated the ruins in the Sangda valley along the Langchen Zangbo River from July to August 2017.
