Lucca: Trees on Top of Guinigi Tower & Massive City Walls
After a busy morning, we went out to explore Lucca, a city in Tuscany, Italy, famous for its intact Renaissance-era city walls. It's such a beautiful city and there are so many pretty sights, rooftop gardens and things to see. There is also a cool Leonardo Da Vinci museum in the city, where you can go and see some of Da Vinci’s inventions. I’m always very fascinated by people who are so creative, and people who can invent, build and create things like that. We had a lot of fun :)

Lucca Italy: Gelato and Guinigi Tower Views
Lucca is located in the Tuscany region of Italy. The renaissance walls encircling the town were initially built as a defensive rampart, however, they are now topped with a tree lined promenade that's perfect for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing bicycle ride. Guinigi Torre is one of the few remaining towers and is unique in that there are oak trees growing at the top. This allows for a nicely shaded area in which to enjoy beautiful views of the city. Also feel free to enjoy the views of the various sweets the town has to offer.

The Torre Guinigi is the most important tower of Lucca, Tuscany, central Italy. It is a typical example of local Romanesque-Gothic architecture.
This tower is one of the few remaining within the city walls. Its main characteristic is its garden in the sky on the roof of the tower.
The tower has been donated to the local government by the descendents of the Guinigi family.

The ancient trees are holm oaks symbolising rebirth and renewal. The tower dates from the 1300s when a number of wealthy families were building bell towers within the walls of Lucca as status symbols. The kitchen was originally on the floor below with the rooftop serving as a kitchen garden.

In this vlog, Maxwell and I head to Lucca, while also taking a quick detour to Pisa to take a picture with the infamous Leaning Tower. This day was quite a leg day as we climbed 230 steps up the Guinigi Tower and then biked on a rickshaw an hour afterward.
Thanks for watching!

WHAT IS ROBLOX?
ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 8 to 18 year olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“ROBUX”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.

Best day trip from Florence - Lucca!
Day trips from Florence are a great way to see Tuscany!
We chose to visit Lucca and spent an amazing day exploring the historic, charming and character-filled town. There’s tons to see and do - and eat! - in #Lucca. We recommend renting a bike - there are many places to do this, all are easy to find - and riding around the medieval ramparts; tasting some of the best gelato in Italy and climbing the Guinigi tower. You won’t be disappointed!
Lucca is also the perfect place to wander through quiet piazzas. Check out some of the highlights from our visit to #italy in 2017!
