Gujo Hachiman is a small, riverside town in Gifu Prefecture, known for its pristine waterways and its distinctive traditional summer dance festival. The town was founded in the 16th century following the construction of Hachiman Castle.
Gujo Odori is the name of the large summer dance festival held in Gujo Hachiman. The festival started over 400 years ago and continues today for a period of thirty-one festival nights between July and September. During the four days of Obon in mid August, dances continue over the night.
Gujo's waterways function in much the same capacity as they did in the 1600s. Walking through town provides visitors with a look at the many canals, fountains and waterways that are still used for washing vegetables, rice and laundry. People in the town cooperate to keep the canals clean and the water fresh; as a result of their efforts, Gujo's drinking water is a source of local pride.
Gujo is also a leading producer of food replicas in Japan. Many of the food replicas, used by restaurants to decorate their windows and inform patrons of their dishes, are produced here. Visitors can try their hand at creating wax shrimp tempura in some of the workshops.

Ｉｔ is said the Gujo-odori at least 300 year history. They even danced on the Japan's defeat day in 1945. How mad they are !

A cidade ainda preserva construções antigas como ruas, castelos e casas que foram construídas centenas de anos atrás. A cidade também é famosa pelo seu festival de dança ( Matsuri, em japonês), que é realizado no verão.
Há algo de mágico nessa cidade, sempre fica aquela sensação de tristeza na despedida, e não importa quantas vezes já visitamos a cidade, sempre queremos voltar :)

郡上八幡著名的是它那水和舞，而郡上舞蹈节（Gujo Odori Matsuri），是日本第三大的民间舞蹈节，让这座小镇名声大噪。这个舞蹈传统可追溯至16世纪90年代，在7月至9月初的三十多个晚上，小镇居民会放下头发，狂热地跳舞，男女老少甚至游客都可以参与。特别的节日主要是在8月13～16日那四天，称为孟兰盆节，那时候人们会跳舞至天亮！那三个月期间整个小镇都会散发着欢乐的气氛。

Everybody has a list of countries you want to visit. For me one of the countries that I want to visit is Japan. Thanks to KEMENPORA RI @kemenpora , JICE @mofajapan , and JENESYS who has granted my wish. After three months came back to Indonesia I got an e-mail from JICE. And I realized there was a task that I had not done. So today I want to complete my assignments by sharing my experience when participating in the JENESYS Programme (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) 2019. In the JENESYS Program Batch 26th, there are 4 topics such as Food and Tourism, Disaster Prevention, History and Environment of Manufacturing, and Historical Heritage. And I got History and Environment of Manufacturing topic. I’m very happy to join the manufacturing team because I got a lot of knowledge in technology and industry. Moreover, I get an amazing and good friend. For 12 days in Japan, Manufacturing team visited Miraikan (The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) Museum, met ASIMO (Humanoid robot), sightseeing at Odaiba, went to Aichi a manufacturing city by Shinkansen bullet train (and it’s running very fast), visited Toyota Commemorative in Nagoya, Mizkan Museum, visited Nagoya South Recycle Plaza (to observed how to recycle plastic waste), and also went to Aichi University of Education for School Exchange, visited Atsuta Shrine, went to Gujo City to visited Gujo-Hachiman Castle and Gujo-Hachiman Hakurankan Museum, and then we went to Asakusa to saw the beautiful temple in Tokyo (you must buy an Green Tea Ice Cream in this place and It’s only 200yen/26K). and among all scheduled programs, I like the homestay program the most.
