Most, hogy újra Ethiopiáról készítettem filmeket, észrevettem a hatalmas technikai fejlődést. Ezek a filmek egy Super8-as néma filmfelvevővel készültek. Megkíséreltem egy kicsit „feltuningolni” egy új szerkesztő programmal, s talán így élvezhetőbbek lesznek a régiek. Családomnak, elsősorban „Ethiopiás” Barátaimnak csináltam mindent. Ha más is megnézi, csak köszönni tudom.

Forest Landscape Restoration: Match plans with budget and capacity (Ethiopia)
In this 11-episode series, you'll have the chance to follow the Forest Landscape Restoration Implementation: Progress on the Ground side-event hosted October 1st, 2019 at the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) XXV World Congress in Curitiba, Brazil. The side-event is a milestone in the IUFRO-led forest landscape restoration (FLR) snapshot analysis, a project that aims at an independent scientific exploration of efforts contributing to forest landscape restoration (FLR) in selected landscapes in nine Bonn Challenge countries, three each in Africa, Asia and Latin America. This project is generously funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
This session titled Ask the Locals features local scientists in interview, illustrating nine lessons learnt in FLR implementation with real-life examples of achievements, challenges, and experiences in forest landscape restoration implementation. Each lesson could be applicable to any FLR initiative, but is brought to life with the example of a particular landscape participating in the project. Moreover, the Ask the Locals session was intended to prompt discussion and audience interaction during the following session titled Curiosity clusters, which engaged all side-event participants and audience members in small group discussions and concluded with feedback submitted on the effectiveness of the side-event, possible additional lessons learnt, and opportunities to communicate results of the analysis project.

Episode #1: Welcome to the FLR Snapshot Analysis and Ask the Locals session
This introduction provides a background to the FLR Snapshot Analysis project and explains the side event objectives and format in this context, as well as thanking the donor – the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety—for generously supporting the project. In this session, videos about the landscapes that have been subject to analysis will be presented, each followed by a short interview with the local scientist who has lead the assessment concentrating on one important lesson learnt.
Episode #2 to #10: Lessons learnt in forest landscape restoration implementation
Lessons learnt are highlighted by participating countries in alphabetical order. Would you prefer Z to A? Check out the blog series, where we learn more about participating landscapes starting with PERU!
Each country could have reported on various lessons learnt - which you can learn more about in the detailed country reports available for download here: however, due to time constraints the Ask the locals session was arranged to present nine frequently observed and complementary lessons learnt that could be useful to policy makers, practitioners, and forest landscape restoration facilitators in countries around the world.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Here are nine lessons learnt in FLR implementation:
1. Strong emphasis on benefit sharing and livelihood development of rural people is needed in highly populated regions.
2. A shared understanding of the objectives and expectations between project leaders and participants is important.
3. Matching project plans with available governmental budgets and local human capacities is crucial.
4. Communication with stakeholders helps to keep them engaged and active.
5. Supportive policy and regulatory frameworks play important roles in mobilising stakeholder support.
6. Strong political support makes all the difference.
7. Tenure and FLR implementation influence each other mutually, making the recognition of de facto rights a condition for large scale success.
8. Building technical and human capacity contributes to obtaining desired results.
9. Supporting local communities to address some of their priorities provides a good basis for long-term cooperation.
Episode #11: Moving forward by looking Beyond Hectares
The summary and outlook draws on the experiences of participating countries and lessons learnt so far during the FLR snapshot analysis project, and pulls it all together by connecting local experiences to support upscaling at a global level.

Italian pastries fit for an emperor in the heart of Addis Ababa's old town
Enrico Pastry has been an icon of Ethiopia's capital for over fifty years. The Italian-style bakery is a pillar of the community -- its piping hot cakes and affordable espresso are seared into the historic landscape of Addis Ababa's old town. The shop has even catered to the likes of Ethiopia's last emperor, Haile Selassie I. CGTN went to find out why generations of the city's residents keep coming back, again and again.
