Gulval is a village in the former Penwith district of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom .Although historically a parish in its own right, Gulval was incorporated into the parishes of Penzance, Madron and Ludgvan in 1934, and like Heamoor, is now considered to be a suburb of Penzance.Gulval, however, still maintains its status as an ecclesiastical parish and parts of the village church date back to the 12th century.Together with Heamoor, Gulval also still retains its status as an electoral ward.

Penzance is a town, civil parish and port in Cornwall, in England, United Kingdom. It is the most westerly major town in Cornwall and is about 64 miles (103 km) west-southwest of Plymouth and 255 miles (410 km) west-southwest of London. Situated in the shelter of Mount's Bay, the town faces south-east onto the English Channel, is bordered to the west by the fishing port of Newlyn, to the north by the civil parish of Madron and to the east by the civil parish of Ludgvan.
The civil parish includes the town of Newlyn and the villages of Mousehole, Paul, Gulval, and Heamoor.
Granted various royal charters from 1512 onwards and incorporated on 9 May 1614, it has a population of 21,200 (2011 census).

Madron is a civil parish and village in west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom.It is a large rural parish on the Penwith peninsula north of Penzance.It is bounded by the parishes of Sancreed and St Just to the west, by Zennor and Morvah to the north, by the sea and the parish of Paul in the south and by the parishes of Gulval and Penzance to the east.Madron village is centred on an elevated site approximately two miles northwest of Penzance town centre.

Penzance (/pɛnˈzæns/; Cornish: Pennsans) is a town, civil parish and port in Cornwall, in England, United Kingdom. It is well known for being the most westerly major town in Cornwall[2] and is approximately 75 miles (121 km) west of Plymouth and 300 miles (480 km) west-southwest of London. Etymology
Penzance has the same name with the same etymology as a homonymic village of Léon (Brittany), on the other side of the Channel, Penzé (fr), pronounced Penzes in Breton. It refers to a word meaning in old Breton, essentially the same language as old Cornish, wrecking.
Toponymy
Penzance (Pennsans), or holy headland in the Cornish language, is a reference to the location of a chapel nowadays called St Anthony's that is said to have stood over a thousand years ago on the headland to the west of what became Penzance Harbour. There are no early documents mentioning an actual dedication to St Anthony which seems to depend entirely on tradition and may be groundless.
History
Prehistory to Early Medieval period
Approximately 400 prehistoric stone axes, known as Group 1 axes and made from greenstone, have been found all over Britain, which from petrological analysis appear to come from west Cornwall. Although the quarry has not been identified, it has been suggested that the Gear, a rock now submerged half a mile from the shore at Penzance, may be the site.

Zennor is a village and parish in Cornwall around 4 miles from St Ives. The village is famous for the legend of 'The Mermaid of Zennor'. The Mermaid chair can be seen in St Senara's Church. The village has a church, a pub and, at the time of filming, a cafe (which is for sale).
The parish of Zennor is surrounded by the parishes of Morvah, Gulval and Towednack.
