Gumbalimba Park Excursion - Roatan,Honduras
Gumbalimba Park is located in West Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras. This beachfront park offers not only the water activities and leisure of the beach and ocean, but also diverse attractions in over 20 lovely acres. There's a treasure to be found here for everyone in the family (and who knows, maybe some pirate treasure, too)!
Gumbalimba Park features:
Animal preserve with jump-on-your-shoulders monkeys, free-flying exotic birds and other native animals.
Botanical gardens with over 200 colorful plant and tree species, numerous water falls and fountains, a picturesque hanging bridge over the fishing pond.
Peaceful sandy beach with lounge chairs situated for the sunlovers or hammocks hung among the tree clusters for shadelovers. Showers and bathrooms.
Coxen's Cave gift shop and pirate's cave, with artwork and history painted on the cave walls, life-size pirates, treasure, weapons and maps.
Gecko Café poolside café serves local favorites such as hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, & chicken sandwiches.
Freshwater pool with a kiddie pool.
Convenient water activities cabana on the beach.
Trivia: Gumbalimba Park is named after one of the native tree species in Honduras, the Gumbalimba Tree. This tree has a bright red, peeling, smooth bark and dark green leaves. Look for cut limbs from this tree used as fence posts on Roatan. Many of them will be growing, as the Gumbalimba tree can resprout from a broken branch!

Selfies with monkeys! Our day at Gumbalimba Park, Roatan
We went to Gumbalimba Park in Roatan on our cruise on the Carnival Breeze. This is the best excursion I have ever been on. The monkey interaction was an amazing experience. I would do this excursion every time we stop at the mahogany bay port.
Roatan Ziplining at Gumbalimba Park - Things To Do In Roatan Honduras
Roatan is full of adventure under and above water. If looking for something fun to do in Roatan, you can try Ziplining through Roatan's jungle to the beach. You may even see monkeys in the trees. I had a lot of fun ziplining for the first time at Monkey Trail Canopy/ Gumbalimba Park.
Monkey Trail Canopy is apart of Gumbalimba Park. The Zipline is around $45 dollars and if you want to go to the park after, it is an extra $10. Going to the park without the canopy is $30 alone so it is worth it to just do both if you are doing the zip line anyway. (NOT A SPONSORED VIDEO!)
There are a total of 12 ziplines which are more than enough! You may even see monkeys and iguanas on the way down.
Gumbalimba Park is also great place to see monkeys, parrots and other animals. I appreciated learning some history about Roatan on the tours. Highly recommend! You can read more about zipling here:

There is a unique paradise along the west end of Roatan...

Nowhere else can you experience the strongest colony of black iguanas...witness a sloth conserving its energy...and see a mother nurturing her infant...
Wildlife at our park flourishes in astonishing numbers...
And our welcoming committee is always delighted to visit with our guest with a smile
What's not to like about a water hole? - or a gentle kiss?
The canopy at Gumbalimba has been preserved, but the best view of the undergrowth is from above.
