Sri Brahmapureeswarar Temple at Tirupattur*Near Trichy*Tamilnadu.
The Brahmapureeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple located in Thirupattur near Trichy, about 25 km from Tiruchirapalli on the Chennai -- Trichy NH 45 in Tamil Nadu, India.
Worshippers believe that a person can change his fate by seeking the blessings of Lord Brahma at Sri Brahmapureeswarar Temple, Tirupattur.
The Shotasalinga (with 16 stripes) worshipped by Lord Brahmma is placed in a separate hall in the temple. This is the place Lord Shiva relieved Brahmma of a curse. Though a Shiva temple, there is a tall idol for Lord Brahmma in a sepa.
Mythological references recount Lord Brahma's overwhelming pride as the Creator of the Universe. Lord Brahma felt that He was more prevailing than Lord Shiva -- since He had the supremacy of creation.
This sense of pride provoked Lord Shiva, who destroyed Lord Brahma's Fifth Head, and also cursed Him that He would lose His power of creation.
To relieve himself of this curse, Lord Brahma started out on a pilgrimage of Lord Shiva Temples.
During the course of His pilgrimage, Lord Brahma also visited this temple and installed 12 Shiva Lingams around Brahmapureeswarar and worshipped Lord Shiva here for a considerable time.
Being moved by Lord Brahma's prayers, Lord Shiva, on Devi Parvathi's appeal, gave him Darshan under the Magizha tree and liberated Him from His curse. Lord Shiva also restored the power and responsibility of creation to Lord Brahma.
Lord Shiva also blessed Lord Brahma that He would have a separate shrine at this temple. He also advised Lord Brahma that since Brahma himself had His destiny rewritten here; He should rewrite the destiny of His devotees visiting this temple.
Since the fate of Lord Brahma, the Creator, Himself was changed by Lord Shiva at Tirupattur, one can expect a turning point in life by praying at this temple.
The temple is under the administration of The Hindu Religious And Charitable Endowments Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
There are 12 Shiv Lingams in the Temple complex, which includes the garden adjacent to the temple. These Shiva Lingams were installed and worshipped by Lord Brahma.
Most of these Shiv Lingams are housed in separate shrines, which are situated around the Brahma Theertham.
Brahma Theertham is the pond from which Lord Brahma took water for performing puja to Lord Shiva.
These 12 shrines of Lord Shiva which comprise the Bramhapureeswarar Temple complex are :
Sri Brahmapureeswarar Presiding Deity
Sri Pazhamalai Nathar
Sri Pathala Eswarar
Sri Thayumanavar
Sri Manduga Nathar
Sri Ekambareswarar
Sri Arunachaleswarar
Sri Kailasa Nathar
Sri Jambukeshwarar
Sri Kalathi Nathar
Sri Sabthagereswarar
Sri Sudharaneswarar
Brahmma worship should be done with 36 lamps (representing 27 stars and 9 planets) offering 108 tamarind rice balls. The devotee should walk 9 rounds.
All the 12 Lingas worshipped by Brahmma are in the temple giving the devotee the benefit of worshipping the Jyothirlingas in a single place.
Lord Shiva advised Brahmma to go to Tirupattur on Earth and worship Him with 12 Lingas (Dwadasalingas) and offered relief. As Lord Shiva changed Brahmma's own bad destiny, he was advised to so in the case of devotees. As Brahmma worshipped Shiva here, the Lord is named Brahmmapureeswarar. Mother Goddess is named Brahmmanayaki or Brahmma Sampath Gouri.
People go round the temple on the 'Guru Brahmma-Guru Vishnu' mantra principle. This is a rare form in the temple. In the entrance hall, the statue of Sarabeswara quelling the fury of Narasimha is splendidly sculpted. Sarabeswarar, a fusion of man, eagle and lion - the deity is believed to have relieved the devas (celestial deities) from the furty of Vishnu in the form of Narasimha after he slayed Hiranyakasibu.
The very stepping into the temple ensures all prosperity to the devotee.
Brahmma appears with turmeric dressing on all Thursdays. Brhamma is the authority for the Jupiter planet. It is the general belief of the people that the aspect of Brahmma would fall only on such persons whose bad destinies would change for good. It is said that those with lesser sins and the devotees would have their fate corrected. Even attack of diseases will change. Pregnant women get easy deliveries without surgeries. Waste expenses do not occur. A student, habitually failing will start shining. But Lord Brahmma does not entertain unreasonable and unjust petitions, on the contrary such prayer attempts would worsen the situation.
In one Mandap, the entire Narasimha Avatara episodes are beautifully sculpted. The musical pillars in the temple represent the story of Ravana attempting to lift Mount Kailash and begging Lord Shiva's pardon with his Sama Gana singing skill.

Sri Brahmapureeswarar Temple, Tirupattur
Sri Bramhapureeshwarar Temple in Tirupattur (Perambalur district), 25 kms from Trichy, Tamil Nadu. While this is predominantly a Shiva temple, it is very closely associated with Lord Brahma, and an ancient shrine for Brahma resides within the temple complex. Regular worship of Lord Brahma is conducted here. As Brahmma worshipped Shiva here, the Lord is named Brahmmapureeswarar. Lod Brahma appears with turmeric dressing on all Thursdays. In entrance mandap , the entire Narasimha Avatara are beautifully sculpted on pillars with the Dwaja sthambam and nandi. When devotees touch the Nandi (the bull vehicle of Lord Shiva), a feeling of touching a real and live bull is experienced by them. On the Pradosha day (13th day either from New Moon or Full Moon days), the crowd is huge to have the Nandi touch and experience. The Jeeva Samadhi of Sage Patanjali can be found to the left of the Brahma Sannadhi. Goddess Brahmmanayaki/Brahma Sampath Gowri can be worshipped in a seperate sannadhi outside the main temple. A door way to the right leads to the amman temple and next door is the Pallava complex of the the twelve shiva temples including an old Kailasanathar temple and Brahma Theertham. Kailasanathar Temple has a huge 16 facetted linga. The nandi here is exquisite.
