Grand Marais, Minnesota. North Shore Lake Superior
Grand Marais is a city in Cook County, Minnesota, United States.
Grand Marais is French for Great Marsh, referring to a marsh, which in early fur-trading times was 20 acres (8.1 ha) or less in area, nearly at the level of Lake Superior, and situated at the head of the little bay and harbor that led to the settlement of the village there. Another small bay on the east, less protected from storms, is separated from the harbor by a slight projecting point and a short beach.
Grand Marais is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Superior in northeastern Minnesota, and is an entry point for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, being at the beginning of the Gunflint Trail. The Superior Hiking Trail passes near Grand Marais and Judge C. R. Magney State Park is nearby with the peculiar Devil's Kettle waterfalls.
Road access to Grand Marais is by Minnesota Highway 61, which heads northeast following the shore of Lake Superior and is known as the North Shore Scenic Drive. The Gunflint Trail (Cook County Road 12) begins in Grand Marais and heads northwest away from the lake and into the Boundary Waters region.
Grand Marais is located 110 miles northeast of Duluth; and 40 miles southwest of the U.S.–Canadian border.

Dreamy get-away spot near Gunflint Lake! The property is near the public access to Gunflint Lake and is accessible year round. The cabins are rustic, but comfortable for sleeping!
Lovely log sauna just needs a wood stove to relax in the cold winter nights after ice fishing, snowmobiling or cross country skiing on the ski trail accessible right from the property. Wood shed already in place to stack firewood and keep it dry all year round. There is another shed would make for great outdoor cooking in the summer!
Super nice creek completes this Northwoods package. Sit on the bench by the creek to enjoy the miniature falls and the woods. The property is wooded and feels private. There is a lot already here, it will be nice vacation place for someone, who loves the lakes and outdoor activities, basecamp to access to the Boundary Waters.
The Lost 40 Scientific Research Area: A Brief History
The Lost 40, a government protected scientific natural research area in Northern Minnesota. The history of this lost acreage of land is discussed in this video. Loggers have never logged this parcel of land in the history of our country. I trek through this wilderness in search of the creature I encountered within this forest back in June of 2015. I also submitted my story to the television show finding bigfoot as well as spoke with the person in charge of their official website. Their pilot episode was filmed just about a half hour from these woods or closer. I'm not too sure what it was. All I know is it took me months of scouring through my photos to find what I believe is a sasquatch sitting up in a tree. Follow me into the forest in the next few videos as I venture further back into these woods alone. I was more than nervous as I went in there alone...
Searching for whatever it was that fell out of a tree in front of me the first time I was in the Lost 40.
