The Gunja Narasima Swamy Temple is a Hindu temple in Tirumakudal Narasipura, a town in the Mysore district, Karnataka state, India. The town is located 20 miles south east of the historically important city of Mysore. The temple dates back to about the 16th rule of the Vijayanagara empire and is built in typical dravidian style with an imposing gopura(tower) over the entrance gate (mahadwara) and a four pillared mantapa (hall) in front of the sanctum.. The temple is located at the confluence of the Kaveri river and the Kabini river and is considered sacred by Hindus. The temple gets its name from the Gunja(Gulaganji in Kannada) tree (Abrus precatorious) that grows in the front of the main entrance. Sculptures in the temple include those of the Hindu god Narasimha and the demon King Hiranyakashipu. By virtue of its sanctity, the temple is often compared to Kashi, a sacred city for Hindus in northern India.[1]

Triveni Sangama (Kaveri Hemavathi Lakshmana Theertha) and Gavi Siddhalingeshwara cave temple
Thriveni Sangama of three rivers namely Cauvery, Hemavathy and Lakshmana Theertha happens at Sangapura on Sangam road, Krishnarajpet tourism, Mandya tourism Karnataka tourism.
Triveni Sangameshwara Temple is near to the sangam and was relocated from its original place when KRS dam was built.
Also there is a cave temple nearby which is known as Gavi Siddhalingeshwara temple .
In Hindu tradition Triveni Sangam is the confluence (Sangam in Sanskrit) of three rivers. The point of confluence is a sacred place for Hindus, with a bath here said to flush away all of one's sins and free one from the cycle of rebirth.
The water level decreases after rainy season, making the pieces of high land rise above water. These form islands. During my visit to triveni Sangama, i was lucky to be able walk across to two islands. The best part is that, the boat men, would row till near the island and then they drag the boat on shallow waters till they reach deeper waters.
The Thriveni Sangama at KR Pete Taluk is peaceful, slightly isolated and visited by only the local shepherds .
The other interesting place nearby is the Cave temple or Gavi Siddhalingeshwara temple sadly no information is available about this temple. It is said that this cave connects to the Somanahalli village, which is 5 kms from here. The cave is a sacred place and on Mondays, people and priest come and worship and offer their prayers there. If any one has any info about this cave temple, please leave your comments below.
